This is my 1st trip to Williams Grove Speedway and thanks to Dewease the Posse did not disappoint. I thought surely we'd see a battle for the lead when he caught the tail markers but he was so hooked up that he just increased his lead through the traffic. For you people out in Northern California, Jonathan Allard started out a bit shaky but they started dialing this place in as the night progressed. My impression is JA would do just fine out here even with their modest budget.

Dewease beats Outlaws and extends win streak to seven

Lance Dewease extended the Pennsylvania Posse’s win streak to seven against the World of Outlaws with a victory in the first night of the Summer Nationals at Williams Grove Speedway on Friday night.

It was Dewease’s fourth Grove win of the season and was worth $8,000. It was his second straight win against the Outlaws after winning the first race of the Don Martin Memorial at Lernerville Speedway on Tuesday night.

“We didn’t start off too well, but we kept working at it,” Dewease said. “That’s what we’ve been doing all year; getting it better for feature time. We weren’t dead right, but after that red, the tires got going and I got the wing back and I could run the middle.”

“This means a lot to me,” Dewease said. “It’s been a wonderful week. Our racecar is good and I’m happy.”

Dewease commented on the streak.

“All of the locals want to defend this turf,” Dewease said. “I’m happy to be here and happy for my owners, Don and Lisa Owens. Tomorrow is another day, but we’ll take this one.”

The Summer Nationals will conclude tonight with $20,000 going to the winner of the 30-lap feature.

Harrisburg’s Chad Layton got the jump on the initial start, but the caution flag negated the start. Paul McMahon, who is subbing for Red Lion’s Cody Darrah, beat Layton down the frontstretch on the second attempt. Steve Kinser was third and Dewease drove by Donny Schatz to take fourth.

Kinser closed on Layton and tried a slider in turn three on lap seven. Kinser cleared Layton, but got over the cushion and hit the outside fence. Kinser was uninjured.

Layton’s sprinter received top wing damage in the accident. He pitted to replace the wing and returned. Kinser was also able to rejoin the field after replacing the top wing and fuel cell.

McMahon, of Nashville, Tenn., led Dewease, Schatz, and Jason Meyers for the double-file restart. Greg Hodnett was up to fifth from 11th.

Dewease, of Fayetteville, got the lead from McMahon in turn one, but another yellow flag flew negating the pass.

After the restart, Dewease continued to hound McMahon for the lead. Dewease would drive in low and slide across the corners. Dewease would get the lead in turns three and four on lap 11.

He began to extend his lead, but was soon into lapped traffic. Schatz would move into the runner-up spot on lap 15.

Dewease made a huge move on lap 17 in turn one driving by two lapped cars to get some distance between him and Schatz.

Dewease would lead the final eight laps unchallenged to score the win over Schatz, Meyers, McMahon and Hodnett. Don Kreitz Jr., Danny Dietrich, Stevie Smith, Alan Krimes and Sammy Swindell completed the top 10.

Lancaster’s Doug Esh will sub for World of Outlaws veteran Jac Haudenschild for the next couple of races in the Carnahan Motorsports No. R19. Haudenschild has a broken hand.

I was impressed with Allard. He was way out of control the first two laps of his heat, falling from 1st to 6th. Then got in under control and made a nice move around someone to transfer. He could be ready for a top-10 tonight. He needs it...it's been a rough trip.

Oh believe me, I like a lot of the OH guys and I'm glad to see them do well but it seems there is a double standard when it come to congratulating your drivers. I don't know the budget details of every sprint team so I won't even go there. Yes we are lucky to have some well funded teams and if OH does not then i would have to wonder why. Central PA is not a wealthy area. Surely there has to be some wealthy business owners in OH who like sprint car racing, no?

The 30c doesn't have an outlaw type budget. Sure they have good equipment and enough of it to run a busy schedule but this is still a team that saves their best motor for big races. I have to laugh every time the WOO comes to the grove and the outlaw motor swap races begin. Every few minutes Johnny is announcing such and such outlaw team is changing a motor. motor changes are not all that common for weekly shows. Keep swapping 'em boys but here's a clue: you're not losing because of motor.

What you been smokin Hauldin corfield Blaney beat the Outlaws last week at Lima? You have a short or selective memory problem? And Blaney by no means has an Nascar budget. Congrats to Lance Dewease on his victory.

Posse should win. They run the track every week so they should be dialed in. Plus, their equipment is second to none although they don't have the depth of budget like the outlaw teams.

Congrats to Lance. The outlaws put 2 on the podium.

Not to chnage the subject back to the posse win streak, but what I find as, if not more, interesting than the 7 victories in a row is the fact that the wins have come from 5 different drivers.

No shit Blaney won at Lima. I like Dale and was glad for him. I'm not sure what your point is?

My point is your guessing about double standard congrats and budgets and lack of quality rides in Ohio. The difference is Ohio drivers win races against the Outlaws but the fans don't have the "We Are The World" mentality or blown up Egos. Its great to have dedicated fans but the bashing of the rest of the sprint car world is bullshit.Congrats again to the Posse on their winning streak.

Congrats to the Posse on win number 8!!! No question it is an impressive streak. Now crawl back under the rock (the Nationals are coming up) and we'll see you guys again in October. Smile

I don't really understand why so many people on this board don't get this or don't believe this, but two or three posters on Hoseheads do not equal thousands of fans in central PA. It seems like many people on here have raging anger toward a couple posters that are obviously just trying to bait people because it works every time.

I think single has a valid point. Like in MOST cases...it is just a few.

BTW, Dewease showed something tonight. Barely made the show and drove from 24th to 6th. I would loved to have seen that. Smile

You are right,,,,,,Single file has a good point that a few bad apples in PA. can spoil the whole batch. If them posters would shut up then it could be ok.

Great win by Hodnett tonight at Pennslowvania's best track! If they transplant a few more from cali or tennsee they could hold the streak.
