If he gets some laps under his belt from now until the Nationals, I could see him sneak into at least the B main. Does anybody know how many races he's planning in the next few weeks?
No offence intended to him but you could say he's been retired from racing for a few years now with that start and park racing team he's with. It might take a while to get back into the swing of things ( I sincerely hope it doesn't)
Every year the Nationals brings a few surprises....Chad Meyer in the A in 2004. Travis Cram in the A Main in 2007. Could Blaney be one of those. Quite possibly.

He has been fast every race since he has returned now i now that isnt knoxville but still...i think you can base how well he will do by his performance at the royal.
It all depends on how he time trials. Not just for those points but he will have to get in a late heat race so the track is wider. I don't think he will be able to pass people on a narrow track like he used to. No way will he make the A Main on Saturday. He should feel good if he makes the A main on his qualifying night. Wed. and Thurs. features are more laps he has raced in 2 years, combined.j/k
I hear through the grapevine that Dave will be piloting a throwback paint scheme for the KR and Nationals in tribute to a very popular winner of the Nationals....
Dave could have been a threat to win at Hagerstown last week if not for mechanical issues in his heat. He started up front and was dropping back then pulled in on a caution. The crew made a repair and he came back out and was way better, but still had to run the B, which he won impressively. Had he finished top-2 in his heat, he could have drawn a starting spot in the front. However, he only managed a 19th to 7th run on a very narrow track, so no need to worry about him not being able to make passes.
I think he has a good chance to make the A, like Oppfan said, it will depend on how he time trials.
