I've had my eye on this race for the last couple weeks and was thinking of maybe making the 3 hour trip out there next Saturday for the ASCS 360 sprints. Never been to I-90 and I'm kinda in the mood to see a good sprint race. From looking at previous results I would think there would be 50 or so sprints there? How much is this to win? What are grandstand prices? How is the Hartford track..any ups or downs? Just seeing of anyone has any thoughts on if this would be a good track to visit?!

Just checked their website..25 bucks to get in.. Thats a little steep for my liking for a 360 race, although its a big race.

" Lonnie Wheatley, TULSA, Okla. (June 29, 2010) – As the summer heat starts kicking in, the Lucas Oil ASCS National series presented by K&N Filters is set to go north to South Dakota and then northwest for the second annual swing through Washington and Oregon over the upcoming weekends.

And, after taking 17 full-time teams to the left coast in last year’s inaugural journey, at least 18 full-time Lucas Oil ASCS teams have confirmed intentions to make the entire trek to South Dakota and then on to Washington and Oregon.

With the series $60,000 championship battle taking shape, a total of 19 teams have competed in all nine events completed thus far as they battle for their portion of the $250,000 Lucas Oil Sprint Car points fund that will be distributed at year’s end.

The upcoming handful of events at I-90 Speedway, Grays Harbor Raceway and Cottage Grove Speedway will undoubtedly play a role in perhaps the most hard fought championship battle in series history.

The journey North kicks off Saturday night, July 10, with the Lucas Oil Sprint Cars making a fourth annual stop at Hartford, South Dakota’s I-90 Speedway, where Jason Johnson, Tony Bruce, Jr., and Gary Wright have each enjoyed victory lane in the past three visits."

The ASCS at I-90 Speedway (Hartford,SD) last year had 52 Sprint Cars there . I'm sure that they will have the same amount of cars next Saturday

Best show I saw all season last year, well worth the $25.

If the track is in good shape it is VERY racy.

I highly recommend you make the 3 hour trip.

All I can say is what I saw last year. It was nothing short of Awesome. It was 3-4 wide racing at the start till the finish. Last year they were able to run from the top to the bottom, balls out racing. Best race I've seen in probably 15 years including the Outlaws. Even the regional show a couple of weeks ago was damn good.

Price is WAY steep. Eagle was 30 dollars for BOTH days. A one day show should be no more than 20 dollars.

Call me a "weirdo" or a "pervert" but if the car count and the racing are good, I'm not so concerned about the ticket price.

I would feel MUCH better about spending $25 at Hartford for the ASCS National event next Saturday then I did about spending $12 to see no cars at Huset's tonight.

I-90 is a frickin' cool little racetrack. Sort of a hidden gem. If you like high-speed bullrings with lots of side by side action, this is the place to be.

I agree 100%. Great track! Does anybody know how many cars are signed up for the show this year? Last year they had around 50 and it would be awesome if they could get even more this year!!

Thanks for the all input guys! If the weather looks high and dry on Saturday, I'm probably gonna go and check it out!! One more question..How is the seating? Does a guy gotta get there early for a top row seat or anywhere is good? Thanks again!

If you have a lawn chair, bring it. There's plenty of open spots available on both endes of the front straightaway area, especially if you get their early.

I'll presume you weren't there for last year's race? It was the best race I'd seen in 5 or 6 years, well worth the $25 admission.

Seating: The bleachers are wood, built in the 70's and not too comfortable. There is terraced seating at both ends of the straights for lawn chairs. Sitting above the #4 corner gives you an in-your-face view of the cars going through 3 & 4. (Recently, it gave folks a real in-your-face experience, as a sprinter cleared the fence coming out of 4.) I prefer to sit midway up on the #1 corner end. You can see the whole race track easily. Last year, you could not keep track of all the action going on at one time.

Word to the wise: Bring msoquito spray, and bring goggles. If the wind is out of the north, it can get dusty.

I remember the B main with RJ Johnson and Gary Taylor...They were side by side for most of that race with RJ running the high side and Gary running the bottom. The feature was a good one with Gary Wright and Chad Meyer with Tim Crawley making a charge at the end. Plus, add the locals vs the national touring guys and it gets fun because they have some guys who can contend for the win as Chad Meyer proved last year.

From the few races I have seen at that track, the surface was different each time so you really don't know what you will get but I would try and find someone who goes every weekend to see what it has been like this year.

Last year's racing was great. Descent track and facilities. And they don't kill you at the concession stand. Well worth the $25.

Well we made the trip out to I-90 yesterday and all I can say is that is one flippin badazz track! It really sucked that the weather had to be an issue and shorten the A. I thought the track was prepped perfectly, you could run anywhere..there were slide jobs galore, and battles all over the track. The bleachers were a little old school, but we got the top row with the backrests and the view was great. I am definatley making the 175 mile trip again next year for this show.

Also--hats off to the ascs/i-90 officials for pushing the show along quickly with the impeding weather, there was no screwing around what so ever. If Wheatley wouldn't have got upside down I think they would have maybe got close to finishing all 30 laps if there were no more cautions.
