Mark Burch Motorsports – Humston's First Feature Win at the Famed Knoxville Raceway

NEWTON (June 22, 2010) – Chad Humston sweeps the Friday night 360 event at Boone County Raceway in Albion, Nebraska, last weekend. Winning his heat and taking the feature, as he prepares for the American Sprint Car Series (ASCS) event in July. After a night like that, what more could car owner Mark Burch want? Why, another night of racing, of course!

It was off to Iowa for the Saturday night Mid Season Championship at Knoxville Raceway. The Mark Burch Motorsports Engler Machine and Tool #1M started the night by qualifying third fastest. "Friday night was a great moral booster for the team. We went out with a car full of confidence. After a night like that it's hard to not be determined to want to do it all over again." Chad said of his qualifying session.

Chad's qualifying time played part in his heat race starting position of sixth. Chad raced hard; picking the competition off one by one as the laps disappeared, finishing the race with a second place.

The A-Main event was the weekend's icing on the cake for the Mark Burch Motorsports, Chad Humston Racing team! The Engler Injected #1M started third row outside (6th) in the main and proved the definition of patience by the end of the night. Ryan Roberts checked out from the front, leading the race for fourteen laps; while Humston made his way to third and made a perfectly timed pass for second at halfway. There was no catching Roberts at this point, he was in and out of lap traffic like he was the only one on the track. RJ Johnson slowed in corner three, causing a yellow on the white flag lap. The re-start put Chad right behind Roberts and gave him the chance to take the lead, with only a green, white, checkered to get there. As the green flag flew for the last time and the cars hit corner one, Humston made his move, performing the perfect slide job, putting him in the lead. Chad Humston took the checkered flags in first, marking this night as his first feature win at the famed half mile. "After the race Gary Isom (crew chief of Ryan Roberts) told me, he knew they were in trouble because of how well our motor takes off. Special thanks to Engler Injectors for helping us make sure our engine didn't miss a beat on the restart." Car owner Mark Burch had to say. "Sometimes you get a yellow when you need one and sometimes you don't… tonight the cautions went our way." Burch said.

In Victory Lane, Chad Humston was all smiles. "This is the sweetest win I've ever had and I hope they keep on coming!" Chad said of his win. "I've learned a lot and I've tried to apply what I've talked about with Terry McCarl and Danny Lasoski. I think tonight was a living example that experience is learning." Chad said of his night. "None of this would have been possible without Marvin Brees. He is without a doubt the man!" Humston said.

Mark Burch Motorsports and Chad Humston Racing will get back behind the wheel this weekend, racing Friday evening at Junction Motor Speedway in McCool Junction, Nebraska and Saturday evening back at Knoxville Raceway.

Engler Machine and Tool, Inc.

Engler Machine was started in 1980 by Tim Engler. His main line of business at that time was plastic injection molds. Over the years he has diversified very widely leaning more towards "high performance products". He now builds fuel injection systems, custom made pulling chassis, gears, shafts, specialty CNC products, racing engines and some custom machining.

Tim has been involved in tractor pulling and holds 13 national titles in that sport, he no longer pulls himself but, has been influential to the success of many other pullers through his advice and building capabilities. He races winged sprint cars when time allows this is something he truly likes and wishes he had more time to do.

Currently, Tim and his staff have been developing a new mini-sprint fuel injection system. There are a handful of these units currently being dyno and track tested with great results. Look for full production of these units this summer. Please call 812-386-6254 for more information. (www.englermachine.com)

Vortex Racing Products

Vortex Racing Products is the industry leader in Sprint Car Wing design. From humble beginnings in 1995 where we began producing wings for our own use we quickly became engaged in producing wings for other race teams. Inspired by a life-long background in racecar design and manufacturing from our Dad, we (Paul and Lynton) continued to evolve into a company known for producing a product a little different from the rest. This ability to manufacture a Wing that is unique in design is what has been our success. With the use of our own race teams in Australia and America, we continually push the boundaries of design with an extensive testing program of our products each and every year. It is with our understanding of chassis design and manufacturing that we are able to communicate with our clients and tailor a wing package that best suits their driver, team and make of chassis.
