Streeter knocked out while leading in Chico
By Gary Thomas
Chico, CA - April 14, 2007... Lathrop’s Matt Streeter and the Orth Family Racing team were on their way to a fantastic night when contact knocked out the front end on the A.R.T. Enterprise, Mike German & Sons, M & S Racing Engines No. 24.
To begin Silver Dollar Speedway Point Race #3 Matt started fifth in the second wingless spec sprint heat race of the night and it turned out to be a dominating performance by the 1999 BCRA Midget champ. He was in second place in one lap and took over the top spot on the third circuit. He then proceeded to obliterate the field as he pulled out to a straightaway lead and picked up an impressive win aboard the Orth Family Racing, Vaughan & Family No. 24.
Matt was set to line up on the inside of row three in the 20 lap feature, but the car starting front of him didn’t start the feature so it moved the No. 24 machine up to third. The track was very choppy and Matt was up on the wheel moving into second on lap four and he then gave chase after leader Billy Wallace.
A red flag on lap six put Matt right on the back bumper of Wallace for the restart. As the green flag came back out Matt went to work and on lap nine made a beautiful outside pass down the backstretch to take the lead. Over the next few laps he and Wallace put on a great show trading the lead until contact in turn two knocked Matt out of the race. It was a tough end to a night that was going so well.
The next race for Matt Streeter and the Orth Family Racing team will be next Friday at Silver Dollar Speedway’s Point Race #4.

It was also a bad night for the other two #24 spec sprints. In the main event Reyna Krueger #24r hit the tractor tire in turn four. She lost her steering and came to a stop in the middle of the front straight where she was promptly rear ended by Jimmy Pettit #24p. Both cars went over and that ended the night for both of them. It was Reyna`s 19th birthday. Bummer
