Elk City/Amarillo This Weekend for NCRA Modified South
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Midwest City, Oklahoma – June 7, 2010 - A huge two day weekend is in store for the O'Reilly/NCRA modified south division as the series makes their second appearance of the season at Elk City's I-40 Speedway in Elk City, Oklahoma this coming Friday night. From there it is West young man to Route 66 Motor Speedway in Amarillo, Texas for the first ever appearance at the beautiful facility for the modified south division and first series appearance since the sprint car division appeared there back in July of 2001. .
Leading the way will be current point's leader Mickey Lassiter of Piedmont, Oklahoma as he holds a forty point lead over Tulsa's Matt French. Sitting third in the point stands is Alan Oliva of Moore, Oklahoma, just 95 points out of the lead. Other drivers in the top ten include Chad Davis (Tulsa), Thomas Tillison, Jr. (Chandler), John Webb (Pauls Valley), defending and inaugural division champion Gene Weaver (Amarillo), Jason Hilliard (Lawton) and Chris Cole (Lawton). Jacob Pirkle of Venus, Texas is ninth in the point standings but is not expected to compete.
Series regulars just out of the top ten but expected to be on hand for both races this weekend include Alan Sharpensteen (Amarillo), Chris Roach (Warr Acres, Oklahoma), Jay Sale (Edmond, Oklahoma), Jim Pearcy (Springfield, Missouri), Colt Goodman (Chandler), Logan Cabbell (Amarillo) and Brian Wolfe (Cromwell, Texas).
Of course, with two straight nights of racing action just a mere two and a half hours apart, several non-series regulars are expected to compete for the $1000 to win and $200 to start feature finales each night. Those drivers include the racing Gossett's (Dee, Zach and Jeremy), Nathan Bichsel, Randy Heston and Conner Pullen. Over forty drivers are expected to compete.
The average car count through three races so far this season is 46 with John Allen, Dustin Robbins and Tryston Dycus picking up victories during the 2010 race season. In all, seven different drivers have reached victory lane since the inaugural 2009 race season with only Bryan Rowland of Woodward, Oklahoma picking up multiple victories on the tour. Other drivers earning victories in 2009 include Gene Weaver, Travis Penrod and Chad Wheeler.
Gates for Elk Citys I-40 Speedway on Friday night open at 5:00 PM with racing set to begin at 8:00 PM. Elk Citys I-40 Speedway in Elk City, Oklahoma.
