I wouldn't like loosing another good money sponsor for sprint car racing one bit. I'm even a Dude fan but I've seen what Caseys has done to the locally owned small town businesses that no longer exist that used to sponsor many of our weekly racers. In full disclosure my family was greatly effected by Casey's and we sponsored many regular drivers over the years. Before Walmart, Casey's and other powerful businesses ran the locals out there were hundreds of service stations, hardware stores and lumber yards that sponsored your local track, little league or what ever. It's just sad those days are gone and those families no longer are there to support their community. Call it capitalism but now that there is a bigger bully in town I'm not going to feel bad for the old bully.

When visiting "back in that area" I found one big difference in all the mini-marts compared to those in California.
Back there, the owner/manager/worker could speak ENGLISH!

The main reason why Caseys excels is that they have little to no competiton in the rural areas in either the food service or fuel business. The avg Caseys pumps 40-70,000 gallons of fuel per month while The avg Quik Trip is closer to 200,000 gal per mo. They cant touch Quik Trip or Kum and Go in the Des Moines market or any other larger town they operate in. By purchasing former competitors at fire sale prices they were able to gain control of the Cedar Rapids IA market. I ask anyone to name a city with a population over 50,000 ppl where they are top dog. Bottom line is being bought up and branded as Circle K might be a great improvement for the small town markets they operate in and the ppl who frequent the stores not to mention the employees and families who depend on them.
More weight, more regulation, more similarity in the
cars.... that will ensure plenty of thrills for years
to come. Only the most average talent behind the
wheel will be needed with such awesome equipment on
the track!

Curt:
Two things.
As one who did, and still, pronounced my "home" as "Muh-zur-uh" there were two things WE felt strongly about.
Kansas City belonged to "Kansas" and St. Louis belonged to "Illinois"!
I don't know if this is true but I "heard" several years ago Jay Leno was going to have a contest and give $10K to the winner. The contest was for the FIRST person who could find a white owner of a 7-11 in California!
