In this modern day era, Jesse Hockett was one of the best open wheel drivers the midwest has produced. In his 26 years Jesse made a name for himself in sprint car racing, winged or non-winged. Winning major races from back East to the West coast, Jesse had the right stuff as far as a race car driver was concerned. He was easy to be around and always friendly and willing to talk to anyone. Once on the track Jesse only had one speed, fast forward.
We in the Midwest have lost our guy in the world of Sprint Cars. All of us will miss him a great deal.
Seeing Jesse do what he did best as in this video taken last Friday at State Fair Speedway won't help the hurt we all feel but hopefully remind us of the "Rocket", Jesse Hockett.

Condolences to his wife and family and other loved ones and all his fans. Words will never remove the hurt and anger you must feel. Only time will help you understand what has taken place. May your understanding of what God can do help you thru this tragedy. Mike K.

Excellent tribute. Never saw the man race in person, but knew who he was, and the talent he had.A sad loss to the sprint car world......

All Tributes are always good!

Fierce as Ferkle

Slammin' is Sammy

Butt kicking goes Blundy

Dirt hits the wall, Dominate with Donny...

Nothing in this world flies quite as High as a Rockett

Dude it Danny

Howl out Wolf

Wild of the days Haud

Wild sidein in the 70's with wicked Welds...

Nothing in this world flies quite as High as a Rockett

Hammer did Hewitt

Kinser reigns King

Distinct as Doty

An Animal on the wheel was Opperman...

Nothing in this world flies quite as High as a Rockett!

Haul ass could Allen

Fast as Freddie

'P'uck the Petty's

I just got beat to the line by a Blaney

Nothing in this world flies quite as High as a Rockett!

I was kidding, I pulled it out of my butt in about 10 minutes. who cares about money, we live in the sprint car world. Most of us go broke watching, racing or owning one. Hint: my signature

Love you jesse! Tbird

tbird after reading your memories, and everyone stories it has been a very difficult week for your family and all of his friends family etc i am sure. but this weekend, the way the dirt racing community came together to remember jesse is truly something special. brian brown sporting the 77 and winning out at knoxville from what i read. also, the flag was at half mast last night at lincoln speedway for the keystone cup 410 sprint series and they did a moment of silence for jesse. and to top it off, watching daryn pittman win and do hockett style 360 burnouts, was something i will never forget. when the usac and wingless boys come to town, it will be hard not to remember how jesse dominated at grandview last year and i was fortunate enough to be in attendance. you should be proud of your cousin, the way he did it wing or non 360 or 410, nobody could do it better than him being so adverse in 1 season of racing and winning in different sanctions. it was something special and he will be truly missed. god speed rocket....

Thank you. I am SO proud of that kid, its unreal....when I was racing with him, I'd always try and keep a piece of this car, or a shattered piece of this....I have the right rear that he used to win Osky, I have a torn up and duct taped piece of the car we ran at Eldora when we crashed, blew the 410 and used the 360 to go from last to 5th....I'd always have him sign photos, etc and he'd be like "why do you want all this, what are you going to do?" Well, now he knows why I did it....always love you Rocket!
