Streeter set for double-duty this Saturday
By Gary Thomas
April 11, 2007... With "Totally Wingless" night on tap for the high-banked 1/4 mile Placerville Speedway this Saturday, Lathrop’s Matt Streeter is set for a full evening of action as he runs in a pair of divisions. For Northern California fans of the "back it in" style of racing, this Saturday is for you.
The main attraction at P'ville this Saturday will be the midgets of the Bay Cities Racing Association as they make their first of two season appearances at the El Dorado County Fairground track. Matt will be wheeling the Van Dyne Engineering powered, Spike Chassis, Matt Streeter Racing Inc. No. 14jr. It will be just one of around 15 scheduled races with BCRA, USAC and AMRA for the Matt Streeter Racing Inc. team this season. The high-banked, red clay bullring is the perfect setting for midgets and it should be one action packed night of competition.
Matt and the 14jr team made the haul to Tulsa, Oklahoma in January to compete at the famous Chili Bowl where they finished in fourth during the Tuesday night qualifier and made the main event on their prelim night. They also competed in Phoenix earlier this year and were running fifth in their heat race when the motor let go and put an end to the weekend. Matt is a former BCRA Midget champ and has 14 career midget victories under his belt. Sponsors for the Matt Streeter Racing Inc. team include: Delta Demolition, T & T Trucking Inc, Bob & Joe Race Prep, F & V Podesta Farms, Eloy Coyote Racing, Advance Shocks and A.R.T. Enterprises.
This Saturday in Placerville will also see Matt behind the wheel of the Mark Orth Family Racing No. 24 wingless spec sprint. Matt drove the Orth Family Racing, A.R.T. Enterprise, Mike German & Sons, M & S Racing Engines, Vaughan & Family No. 24 to a win at the Silver Dollar Speedway season opener on March 30, and will look to put it into victory lane in Placerville. The Orth No. 24 machine plans to run as many of the JPM Wingless Spec Sprint races as possible with Matt behind the wheel and this Saturday’s event will be the first of the season in Placerville for the team.
Gates open at 5 and tickets are just $11. More info on this weekend’s race can be found at http://www.johnpadjenmotorsports.com
