Mason Moore scores third at second Placerville Speedway Red Hawk Casino point race with Civil War Series coming to town this weekend

By Gary Thomas

Placerville, CA – April 26, 2010…After having tough luck cut his night short at the Placerville Speedway weekly opener on April 17 Princeton, California's Mason Moore came back this past Saturday and rebounded to record a podium finish in the second Red Hawk Casino 360 point race.

The previous week had seen Moore qualify fourth fastest out of 31-cars at the Placerville Speedway, but encountered issues while leading the b-main, which put an early end to the event. "It feels nice to come back here this week and get a good finish after not being able to run the feature last Saturday," said Moore. "We've had a bit of bad luck here and there so far this season, but hopefully we got all that out of the way and can keep running up front the rest of the year like we did tonight."

Putting the Placerville opener behind him Moore went into Saturday with a fresh mind and began the event by clocking the sixth fastest lap of the evening in qualifying aboard the Friends & Family Racing, Sierra Single Ply, Wiley X Eyewear No. x1 A.R.T. He then started from the inside of the third row in the final heat race and brought home a sixth place finish to miss the transfer by one spot, forcing him to the b-main for the second week in a row.

Going from the outside of the front row in the 12-lapper Moore checked out from the field and had no problems this time to easily capture the win and transfer into the main event. "In the heat I just couldn't get by Sean Becker for the last transfer, but we were about as good as you can get in the b-main and I think it kind of helped to get more laps on the track," said the 19-year-old competitor. With the number four pill then being drawn it gave Moore a third row starting spot in the feature and early on it became a game of survival as reds and yellows slowed the opening stages.

When the racing finally got into a groove and the 25-lap contest progressed on "Primetime" worked his way into third and tried to find an opening by Andy Forsberg for second, but it never came and he settled for a third place finish at the conclusion. "We were good in the main event and once I got up to third I felt like I was faster than Forsberg, but I just couldn't complete the pass," commented Moore. "I was hoping for a little more traffic because the one time we got into some it made things pretty hectic and exciting."

Next up for Moore and the Levin's Auto Supply, Roseville Precision, 1-800-Dryclean.com No. x1 mount will be this weekend's California Sprint Car Civil War event at the Placerville Speedway.

Going into the night the Princeton, CA driver ranks sixth in the series standings after two rounds of racing and is just 13-digits behind current leader Herman Klein. "We're excited for the Civil War show this week and can't wait for Saturday," he said. "We've been fast at Placerville and I would really like to get my first Civil War win and Saturday would definitely be a good night to do it. It should be a strong field and will be a fun night."

Moore is also scheduled to be in action at the Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico on Friday for Withrow's Motorsports/ JP's Paint & Body Works Night, barring any wet weather this week. So far this year the first three Feather Falls Casino/Riebes Auto Parts 410 point races at the track have been cancelled or postponed due to the continued un-cooperative weather, which has made the pits and track unusable. Last Friday's third annual Bill Brownell Memorial has been re-scheduled for June 4 however, to make for a full weekend of racing in Northern California, as the Golden State Challenge 410 Series will be in Placerville the following night on Saturday June 5.
