something that i have noticed and i don't know if it is just me, but i have had several computors that have had rogue antivirus infections downloaded from this site. i know it is from this site because it has happened quite a few times, and it happens when i go to sign in. it is one of those fake antivirus programs that download and tell your computor is infected and you have to pay to get the infection removed, when the thing that is saying you are infected IS the virus. i know that made me hesitent to log in for a while until i found and paid for a program that actually stopped and the virus from loading. my anti virus program alone didn't do it. since i got the other program, the rogue antivirus has tried to attack sereal times, but each time has been stopped by the other program. it is a biotch to get the darn virus off and sometimes it was more than one.

Still here. I check in every so often to see what's happening. I don't post much anymore because I just don't get to the races much anymore. Many of the people I once knew have moved on and I guess in a way I have started to move on too.

BINGO! What Buzz said.

I have been hit on two different occasions at this site and BOTH TIMES it was when I went to my profile.

I know "their expert" says this can't happen because HE designed it but I am here to tell you it has happened twice.

The last one cost me $180.00 to get fixed! Frown

the paid version of malwarebytes with real time protection stops it. i have tried a lot of stuff, but that worked.

I find the virus topic to be a bit odd. In the 13 years this board has been up, Ive never had one warning from my av. Did you get it from a click thru ad? If you think its the hoseheadforums.com server thats the source, you need to contact Jeff directly at [email protected]

I am still here. Good to hear from Top Wing and Florio. It has been ages since I have seen either of you. I lurk mostly because this board will not let me log in. I have to go to the main HH board and log in there (if I am already logged in there, I have to log out and then back in) and then scroll down to the bottom of the page and switch to the NCSC board every session. This is a pain in the butt instead of having to log back in every 2 weeks or so. I know that I am not the only one with this problem, so that may be why some of the old regulars have disappeared.

Along the lines of what Chuck says, for quite awhile the "reply" box has been incompatible with Firefox. Since I prefer the Firefox browser, I would normally be using it to read the Forum. If there was something I thought was significant enough to post, I would have to fire up Internet Explorer and log back in before being able to post. A lot of times I just let it go, rather than going through all that hassle.

This was written from Firefox, so that problem has been solved now. Thanks, Jeff.

hi stu. i am sure i got the virus when i tried to log onto HH. at least that is when it loaded. on more than one computor and a lot of occasions. i had to reformat one computor and then i found that if i got to system restore quick with out disturbing the virus as it was loading, i could do a system restore to an earlier date and be ok. then the virus got smarter and started shutting that down. the first sign of trouble is when you get the warning that your firewall and antivirus have been disabled or shut down. the virus does that. it was a bear to find a registry code that would fool the virus to let malwarebytes start. the virus won't let anything run that it thinks is a threat to it. malwarebytes gets ride of it when it can run. the registered version of malwarebytes with active protection stops the virus from installing and lets you quarentine it and get rid of it. that has saved me a few times as well. sorry for the long explination.

hey chris, i had the same problem on my lap top with firefox as far as the posting box thing. didn't have it on some other computors. it seems the problem is gone from my lap top now too. thanks for the heads up.

Hey TopWing..

Thanks for the shout out...I'm still here and occassionally lurking. Still keep in touch with a few hosers via other social networks and would love to hear from you as well. Haven't been to a race in years.

I'm also still in Chico. If you're ever in town, would love to see you!

Speaking of missing folks, I haven't seen Grove Hill on here for a long time. Also just realized I haven't gotten any jokes in some time. Did I miss something? Didn't see him at the Trophy Cup either.

I was thinking that YZ told me at the Chili Bowl or the Oval Nationals that Missa had moved to Oregon or Washington,or something like that. Of course I remember the "Sippy Cup" incident he had at Perris, and I also remember him thanking someone on here for being brave enough to let him sleep in their house, with their dogs present! I cant remember how it was worded, but it was funny reading. For as funny as some of his posts were, when meeting him at Oskaloosa quite a few years ago,he was quieter than most Mainers are when you meet them. Go figure...
