Streeter pulls off late in the going at Chico
By Gary Thomas
Chico, CA - April 9, 2007... After winning the opening wingless spec sprint point race of the season at Silver Dollar Speedway on March 30, Matt Streeter and the Orth Family Racing team came back on April 6 looking for more of the same.
In 2007 Streeter and Orth are planning on running the full Silver Dollar Speedway Feather Falls Casino Friday night point series as a team. Streeter, the 1999 BCRA Midget champion, competed in 16 combined spec sprint races at Silver Dollar and Placerville Speedway’s last season and finished fourth in the final standings(even despite missing three races). He wasn’t able to win a race last season and coming into this year that was a definite goal. It didn’t take long and on opening night he led all 20 laps of the main event to put the Orth Family Sprinter, A.R.T. Enterprise No. 24 into victory lane.
Streeter and the team came back this past Friday and started sixth in the third and final heat race. Streeter drove smart as the heat race was a carnage filled affair and he moved forward to finish second aboard the Mike German & Sons, M & S Racing Engines, Vaughan & Family No. 24.
Streeter lined up 10th in the main event, which was just 15 laps in length because of time constraints. He had moved up to sixth when he pulled off late in the race and was scored with a 16th place finish.
The Orth Family Racing team and Matt Streeter will be back in action this Friday for Silver Dollar Speedway points race number three. Streeter comes into the night fourth in points, 15 behind leader Billy Wallace.
