Since I know this board has some of the biggest Sprint Car enthusiasts within it's parameters, I will ask this question. Who are some of the dirtiest drivers in the history of Sprint Car Racing? If you could provide some stories along with your nominations that would be tremendous as well. This is definitely not an attempt to degrade anyone, just something I'd like to know as a young racefan.
Any information would help greatly!
Thanks!

I'm not going to mention any name but I know a guy who lost his ride back in 93 because he wouldn't bathe often enough!

I think this subject would open up too many cans of worms. However Bobby A. wasn't called Scruffy because his suits were clean. Ha Ha Ha

I guess I was looking for drivers who weren't afraid to move someone out of the way because he/she maybe thought he/she was faster then the car in front of them. This didn't have anything to do with their bathing habbits.. :-)
Seriously though, any help would be great..

Of the 3 different interpretations of this thread title that crossed my mind, not one of them will lead to a civil conversation.

As a newcomer, or at least a new poster, you will find that you need to word your questions in the most direct fashion that you can, in complete detail. If not you will receive answerers, all over the board. This post you have made could easily go the direction of politics, foreign chassis builders or drivers that are the cleanest, so be careful. Here in the Tulsa area, years ago we had a very successful driver named Dan Dias (sp?) Who's nickname was Dirty Dan, not sure whether he really earned it or not.

True dirty drivers never make it to the level of being respected. They get canned by fate, or the racing community.
ANY driver that won a lot of races however, WILL have complaints of dirty driving from their colleagues/fans.

Stan Constant and Butch Roberts will sell a kid broken, wore out, dirty race parts in oklahoma city.plus i think Stan ,the one arm freak, ran illegal fuel. It's hard to drive dirty with one arm though.

I can see where this is going. It is going to last about as long as the Logan thread!

The real intimidater was not Dale Earnhardt. He wasn't a dirty driver like him either, and he was one of my all time favorite's. He scared the hell out of a lot of his fellow competitors because of his passion, his obsession to win every race he was in. Heat race, trophy dash, it didn't matter, he wanted to win them all!! They called him "mad dog".
Half the lies they tell about me aren't true.

I nominate the last driver on the lead lap at the 'main event' checkers during those 'back in the day' daytime shows ran at those old Midwest fairgrounds type tracks by IMCA, AAA and those other GREAT old sanctioning groups. Han-kerchiefs over the face, white long sleeve shirts and farmers gloves. Might have been 'dirty' but they were hero's to a whole generation of young boys.

A couple of years ago we had mud wrestling start up after the races. Steve Yarns, Jeff Luhman, and Jon Briggs mud from top to bottom. If I remember right, I think the promoter got a little dirty as well!

Thank you! I haven't really been gone, I just haven't had anything to say in awhile (very unlike me, I know). But by the looks of my racing schedule this year versus years past, that'll probably change soon. :-)

The Kansas City area was home to a guy named Art Dishinger in the long ago.He was called "DIRTY ART" and not in a nice way ! Art drove all over the midwest in all kinds of racecars and like Earnhardt,he didn't want his hard earned reputation to be cleaned up by anyone because he figured that it added to his "mystique".
When the local drivers took up a collection to reward the "pot" to whomever could put Art on his head, his question was :"How much do I get for every one that I can put on THEIR head ?" which prompted a number of the donors to go and ask for their money back ! He stands out in our history as unequaled in his ability to deal with all comers although he was one of those "little guys" who knew that when you were in a racecar everyone was the same size. His description of how to tell a driver from a racer is a classic from Bud Hunnicutt's "Up On The Wheel".
