Just read on another forum that there will be a new minisprint and midget track built in the Tulsa area at the old Drillers Stadium.

Interesting!!!!! Isn't the Drillers Stadium on the the grounds of the Tulsa Fairgrounds? Even more interesting.

think it's about time to move to Tulsa......

In recent times who would have thought that the dirt track scene in Tulsa would be so superior to that of OKC.

It's already a huge discrepency - with Tulsa hosting Port City and Creek County. OKC does have I-44 - which is ten times a better track than Port, but sadly can't get but about 30-40% of the cars PCR does.

Tulsa looks to be a much happier setting for weekly fans of quality dirt track racing. I wander if this new Driller Stadium thing has anything to do with Port City being up for sale. Last year Port was for sale, and if I remember correctly there was an offer matching what Aaron Lemmons wanted, but that they wanted to tear it down. Maybe those behind the Driller Stadium idea look to inherit the intense core of support for micro racing in that area if PCR is to possibly not be around. Hell if they ran Driller on friday and Port on saturday........Tulsa would probably be micro heaven.

As so many weekly shows seemingly continue to........deteriorate (or maybe never that great to begin with).........hopefully micro racing will get a lot more notice. It certainly is deserved. Beats the shit out of watching shrinking fields of mods beat and bang each other on 1 groove tracks. I've noticed micro's seem to put on high quality racing track conditions aside most of the time.....as small as their tires are.......whether tacky or dry - seems as long as its smooth and not big ruts they put on some fantastic wheel to wheel racing.

Well a few years ago Indy had the 16th street speedway which was an old baseball stadium that was made into a dirt track. It seemed to catch on though the promoting from what I heard was not the best.
