I remember not too long ago the camaraderie, laughs, stories shared, and good times had with several HH members on here, that now; habitually slam each other at every turn. I've been to numerous tracks around the country, met more than my share of Hosers over the years, and have had fun at every turn. (Except that one time I fell asleep in the infield in MO after a looooong modified race that lasted until 1am and made the 410 A-Main start waaaaay too late, sorry Randy Martin-I apologize again for not seeing you win)!!! It surprises me how quickly the tides have turned. I am confused as to what happened about two (+/-) years ago on here to pit fellow Hoser against fellow Hoser?!?! Some of the anti-this and anti-that banter that once swept this MB and made it such a fun place to read, post, and even lurk has been replaced with such negativity, and out-right blasphemy that it makes me shake my head. I quit posting years ago (minus the odd post every year or two) so as to not get in the middle of several debates that I felt were a bit slanted or even flat-out incorrect in it's "details". I also quite going to MANY races because of this… it's not too much fun when you have to side-step someone that you think is a jerk, or perhaps just rubbed you the wrong way, or even said something about someone you know/admire that hit a bit too hard. I wonder how many others lost their interest in Sprint Car racing due to the same reason!?!? Everyone is entitled to their opinion… one of the great things about this country, but I just don't get when you "boys" take it so personally. Name-calling and people-bashing is just so juvenile. BTW, I have 12 and 9 year old daughters that I would love to re-introduce to this sport, but I have to be careful. Why you ask? Because my oldest is gung-ho about anything she delves into and has a passion for. Up until about two years ago she was going to races but hasn't mostly due to MY lack of interest. I'd love for her (and her sister) to have the enjoyment that I did going to the races; feeling the seats rumble beneath you as the cars whiz by at 135mph, the wind blowing so fiercely you wear your sunglasses at night to keep the dirt out of your eyes, hanging out with friends that you may only see at the racetrack every now-and-again, and the excitement you get when your favorite driver makes it across the finish line ahead of everybody else. On occasion, my girls have watched me over my shoulder when I'm on the computer, but I dare not let them while I read HH MB for fear of the vulgarity and personal bashing that has transpired over the years. I think my oldest could/should have so much fun on this… and my youngest LOVES numbers/stats, so she could easily have an interest as well in the MB. Yet, this is only website that I have book-marked on my computer that my children are not allowed to view. Sad, huh? Regardless… I hope you all find a different angle this coming race season. I'd really like to take my girls again to a race, but when they ask me if they can look up race results/stories/4-11 (to races we are not able to attend) then HH is most certainly NOT the place. Only went to two races last year, and hope to do more this year with my girls, but... we'll see!?!?!

Moving on… who's up for some laughs at the Dingus next Friday after the race…. Anyone… anyone…???

I admit I left the message boards for similar reasons. When I got started on HH, maybe 9 years ago or so, I remember the fun we had in the old chat room. That is where I met some fine people whom I can still call "friend" today. As well, I met some fine people because of this very message board whom I can still call "friend" today.

From that experience I now literaly have friends around the world. Some I will have the pleasure of meeting, yet sadly some I will never meet.

I also learned to ignore the b.s. and look for the posts that were informative.

I suppose everything goes through cycles and message boards are no different.

I hope your daughters find the thrill and enjoyment of what we already know from our experiences.

Take care and good racing,

Greg Cybulski

Hmmm, next Friday I'll be at Eldora, wanna try the Illusions Club in Piqua after the race, lol? Maybe the Friday before the Outlaw show at Knoxville will work as well, lemme know. Take It Easy....

PS I think Rodney King gets paid royalties when you use that line, doesn't he?

MSPN, yes, sorry, Piqua it is... Dingus is the 28th! Please no nastiness on here. LOL

I'm not expecting much of a reply on here, just venting my frustrations! I truly wish it was like the good 'ole days when Todd (TJ's) was the place to be and then Alan (Hosehead) had an opportunity to bring this to the masses with a few more "sponsors" and ran with it. It was nice to chat with, and eventually get to know/meet people on here, until these past few years... sheesh!

And Greg, thanks! I started taking my girls when they weren't even able to hold their heads up on their own... Went to Lakeside, I-70 and Sedalia as a kid and loved it. It was "special" time with my dad, and some very fond memories with him before he died around my 10th b-day. Didn't make it back to one for 9 years... Been going to races the last 15 or so years and have dwindled my interests in racing because of some of the stupidity that transpires on here. Not defending anyone in particular, not blaming anyone in particular, and not even saying it was "one" particular "thing" that turned my head away. It was just a steady stream of negativity and such... that slowly whittled at my passion for racing. Too bad, I miss it... glad to be going to some races again soon. It's long over due!

Speedy, yes... gonna go the K'ville on the 27th/28th. Heading to Eldora next Thursday for the two-day show on the 13th/14th. I'm very excited about seeing a race again, but fear the cold more than I should. For a girl from Kansas, I never did get used to this cold. stuff... BRRRR...

And Drano, Thanks! You know you could have had me too, but you never showed up at the bar! LOL j/k

Ahhhh, I still enjoy the board and I too have met many a friend on here. In fact, it's no secret that my place is open for anyone who travels and wants to visit Attica or some of the other fine Ohio facilities and needs a place to crash for a night. (yes, even posse fans...LOL!) I don't take the bashing too seriously, you just have to consider the source and let it roll. Since I'm not married anymore, I need someone to argue with anyhow and the board always offers opportunity for that!

I'll be at Eldora next weekend, wouldn't mind getting together as well, in fact, I wouldn't mind finding out just where Club Illusions is at. Went through Piqua just a weekend ago and verbalized that to my traveling friend.

After fooling around with them since the mid 80's at work I bought my first home computer and got hooked up to the web in 1996. I started my first personal homepage in '97 and got my gotomn.com domain in '99. The old Open Wheel Wizard was a frequent hangout and I started my website around the same time as HH and TJ but stuck with the local racing and decided that the advertising and a commercial website weren't the direction I wanted to go. It's just a fun deal for me and I miss the "good old days" of the internet when you had to be half racefan and half computer geek just to keep these d*mn things running. Nowadays computing reminds me of the a racing analogy that a driver once gave. He said that when anybody could come down out of the stands and drive one of these things it was time for him to quit. Well, now just about anybody can go to their local electronics store, pay a premium price for them to setup and maintain their computer and "anybody" can get online. I think that's where the turning point was, when it no longer took much computer knowledge to get online and maintain these things, when the masses got online, that's when things started going downhill.

I still occasionally build a computer and I'm experimenting with a Linux distro on one of my boxes so I still get into that aspect of computing. It's nice to participate in the Linux/Open source community because it's a lot like computing used to be way back in the "good ol' days", way back in 1997. Smile

Another thing affecting people I think is that the post 9/11 world is more stressful. People seem to have more of an edge now than they did a decade ago.

In spite of a few hecklers on the racing boards I still enjoy the internet and computing. Racing is just one thing that I use my computer for, there are many other things a person can do besides getting into p*ssing matches over trivial racing debates.

Jimbo, I don't mind taxi cabs at all, I am a racefan first, the rest doesn't count. That night might be a tough one but I may stop by the Hall of Fame Suites and watch some action. I have said repeatedly in this forum that the single best support group in this country is the Thunder Cars that race at Lincoln Speedway every Saturday night in PA, those cats RACE hard and put on a SHOW! Either way, it will be great to see you again and toast our laughs and giggles over the years, Take It Easy....

PS: Dang, that fuzzy thing rears it's ugly head, arghhhh.

PPS: Coach, you have an invite to Club I after the Eldora show, just make sure you get to confession before next weekend, Our Father who art in Heaven......

Dear K C Kim........We came along pretty late in the game and cannot claim any "Dingus time",but always enjoyed your comments (as we "lurked"around the MB).We understand that your marital status may change soon and wondered if the fact that you may be spending more time with our friends north of the border will mean a change in your "handle" ? Please identify yourself if you change more than one of your names so we can appreciate your comments in the future.

CONGRATULATIONS ! (Or is it alright to say that to the bride ?)MAZELTOV and all that good stuff.

Bud's Bride (Bud says "Me,too"wink

PS. Wish we were going to be there to greet "Oscar" and meet Pat his buddy ----or I guess in Oz speak that's "mate".We are praying for decent weather for all you Eldora-"ites" just like we are hoping for a little break from Mother Nature down in Lakeside land. Oh and HAPPY EASTER to all !!!!

Thunderbug, thanks, to BOTH of you! I think I'll always be "KC" Kim, regardless of my marital status. Don't imagine changing that; it's something I'm proud of. Born and raised in KC and love it! I used to hit the MB hard and heavy up until a half-dozen years ago or so, but alas.... got tired of all the bashing on here. It got to be old news and I could only read it/reply to it for so long, like many others I'm guessing!

Perhaps you folks are driving to K'Ville for the 28th as well? Hope to see you there... on that Saturday, it will be t-minus 7 days and counting till I hear those wedding bells. Think we're gonna celebrate a bit since that is where we met nine years ago that very weekend (the WoO show). Celebrating Cinco De Mayo in no way I have in the past, nor hope to again! LOL

Till then, all the best... from the Midwest.

Yes "anybody" can get on line. Just when was it a prerequisite to be a computer wiz to be a sprint fan ? As far as the statement about anybody being able to come out of the stands and drive these things that's a old statement about wings when they came along. I heard it many many times before computers and forums and maybe before you were a fan. I don't know.

I sat in the stands as a kid when Foyt was coming along with USAC and heard things said about him that would make some people on this forum say, Oh my,what a thing to say about a driver. LOL Lets ban him and take away his computer.

I'll tell you what, if they had this forum back in the "good old days" the things that would have been posted about Foyt, Vogler and some of the other hard charging drivers would be a stunning to some of the mamby pamby types who think you have to be a computer geek to have relevant opinions on sprintcar racing and the men who drive them.

I will agree that some of the "kids" who are fairly new to the game can be a little annoying with their purely bashing for bashing posts but in the end...it's all good.

You had a club like atmosphere and the computer was the common denominator and you felt elite, special. Well my friend this is now a forum about racing, drivers, rivalries and some nonsense. Not computers.

I'm ready.

Kenny

I think he was alluring to the fact that the online community was smaller and everyone knew each other. There were not continuous attacks by new posters (alts) that annonymously start crap from behind a computer. ANd yes it is much different now than it was ten years ago.

BIGFISH you make some good points in many of your posts especially on the SCRA board, but I think you missed the mark on this one. Some of us are not mamby pamby, just don't like the hatfield./mccoy attitude that is prevelant in todays message boards.

Oh, and congrats to KC Kim.

Well maybe I just got up on the wrong side of the bed but I do understand the "club" like atmosphere of the "good old day's" that was not that long ago and how one would miss the "friendy, "all agree" atmosphere. My point is that it has never really been like that in the "real" world and thank God.

Bashing for bashing sake is immature and yes way to much of it but to suggest that "they" whoever that might be were Superior than the "average" fan is bullsh** and I stand by it!

I've been on here long enough now to see that a the "Hatfied/McCoy bunch have their own little world within this forum. We all know who they are and they are thinking of something to say about the others group as I type this (with one finger). When you see their name you know what your going to get, so don't turn on the channel if you don't want to watch it.
