My older brother shot this footage as his "senior project". He and I both worked on the purple car @ :32 that spins out @ :45, we also worked on the #12 car @ 1:04 & 1:34 (and with the wrecked front end) I was 14 at the time, this was the first team I ever worked on, they had to sneak me into the pits.

I'm pretty sure I was at that race. I was only 8 but my dad took me. Races started around noon and continued all day. I want to say that either Leep or Lies won the feature but don't quote me it was a long time ago. It seems like this was the second biggest race in the area to the Hutch nationals. Both had their tragedies.

Dave Frusher won that race. We failed to qualify. We had been running in the modified division all season and got a motor from Jim Carpenter for the last few races of the season. We went up there with Jim Carpenter and James Eubanks. James finished, we didn't qualify for the "A" and Jim crashed out of his heat.

Dave Frusher Enid, OK 1976

Some are saying at another Hosehead forum the video might be 1975?? I don't have my yearbooks out here on the road or I would know real fast. Harold Leep in the #24 would be a big clue as to what year the video is. Leep is in the Pat Suchy super number 24 in the video.

In 1974 Mike Connors the flagman was killed.

Yeah I'm seeing Leep in the Suchy 24. The 24 was for a short while and it was for Larry Holman to use in order to close up the 1975 OkC championship. Larry had been in the Sampson 21, yet there being a fallout between the two, and the number 21 being withheld by Sampson, Pat Suchy offered his Jelly 13 while Benny Taylor and the Parson 13(later Suchy 76) were healing from a midseason crash.

Once the title was won, both parties, Suchy and Holman, went their own ways. Leep was looking for a steady ride(he ended up with two for 1976), Suchy had the 24. The Parson was ready for 1976, and the rest is history.

Believe me, this took a while to understand. High Plains Thunder shows Leep in the 24 and says it's from 1977! Not..................Still a great book!
