Thirteen-time King of California Brent Kaeding opened the season last year at Placerville Speedway by winning his 80th career Golden State Challenge main event. It was the first of four series victories at four different tracks on the season for the Campbell driver, as he ended the year third in the standings aboard his Al's Roofing Supply, High Five Pizza No. 69 Maxim. Although not counting as an official record Scotts Valley's Evan Suggs rocketed around the Placerville Speedway quarter-mile in 9.913 seconds during qualifying at the season opener last year, which amazingly tied Tim Kaeding's all-time track record set in 2004. It marked the first of four fast-time efforts that the 23-year-old amassed with GSC last year in his Suggs Racing, Lucas Oil Products No. 33e KPC. Photo by http://www.stevesracingphotos.com

Defending Golden State Challenge Series Rookie of the Year Kyle Larson scored his first career victory with the tour on May 29 of last season at the Ocean Speedway. The 17-year-old racer will make his GSC debut this weekend behind the wheel of the Stadelhofer Construction, Peppermill Casino No. 99 Maxim, which he piloted to a fifth place finish in the final Trophy Cup standings last October in Tulare. Grass Valley's Jason Statler scored three runner-up finishes with the Golden State Challenge Series last year, but missed out on getting to victory lane for just the second time with the series since 2002. The former King of California will look to change that up this weekend at the Placerville Speedway, a track he won a GSC main event at in 2004 aboard his Statler Racing No. 00 Maxim. Any chance Tim Kaeding will be at P-ville? The Outlaws are off for a couple of weeks. Maybe the 83jr, they did race at P-ville last year!

No mention of Jon Allard? How many "regulars" is GSC going to have this year?

not in the loop or anything but i would GUESS that Allard will be at the placerville race. Being the Golden State opener and all. i know no official word yet or anything, but unless hes commited somewhere else i would venture a guess that he will be in p-ville.
