I am returning to the Stanford Invitational track meet this weekend and would like to take in a race Saturday night. Where will the sprint cars be running that is close to Palo Alto, CA? If I'm not mistaken, Petaluma and Placerville ran last year....is this true again this year?

Thanks for your help in finding me a race to get to.....IB

Golden State Challenge is at Placerville Saturday night. I think that would be about a 2 hour drive from Palo Alto. Real tight little bull ring for the 410's.

Brad, in addition Antioch is to be running Non wing and 360. I would call the track before I went though as sometimes their schedule changes.

hey brad, the antioch web site http://www.antiochspeedway.com/schedule.php shows non wing (360 spec) sprints and winged 360's running 3-27. antioch is close to palo alto, but the p-ville show would probably be better. both ocean and petaluma open their winged 360 seasons the following week. ocean on 4-2 and petaluma on 4-3. antioch ran 360 winged cars last night 3-20 but i haven't heard any word on how the show was. nothing on the internet or their web site.

to indy and beyond!!

Petaluma's schedule has them opening their season this saturday. Petaluma and Antioch look to be about the same distance from Palo Alto but with 360 wings and non-wings, I may get more sprint car racing there. What would be better Petaluma or Antioch? I'm thinking Placerville (I would rather go there) will be to far to drive. I am guessing the track meet would last to long into the day on Saturday to make that trip....we will see.

IB, Petaluma opens this weekend, yes, but due to the Silver Cup (360 open show) in Chico, Petaluma will not have Winged 360 Sprint Cars this weekend. We WILL have Non-Winged Spec Sprint Cars, Late Models, Super Stocks, Dirt Mods and Dwarf Cars this weekend March 27th as we raise the curtain on the 50th anniversary of Petaluma Speedway. I'm keeping my options open right now...don't really know what my schedule is for saturday at this time. I would like to go to Placerville but Antioch may be more realistic due to the track meet. Still working on it. Thanks for everyones help.

Based on my experiences covering major track meets before, I would be shocked if you get out of there at any time resembling "early" on Saturday. Do you have to be there for the entire meet, or simply portions?

Between Placerville, Antioch and Petaluma I think you would see the best racing with the best drivers in Placerville! Yes, it is the furthest but as long as someone saved you a seat you would probably get there in time to see the races!

Looking forward to the new Golden State King of the
West series schedule!

My choice would be Placerville. Number two would be Petaluma and Antioch if I had to. Unfortunately for you Antioch is probably the closest and P-ville is definitely the furthest. If you can make Placerville by the dash you will get your moneys worth. In my opinion there's no better time of the year to watch a race at p-ville!

Change of plans.....I am no longer making my way to California this weekend. Our track team isn't taking enough athletes to justify taking me so I get to stay home. Thanks for all of your help and sorry for wasting your time. Looks like next weekend at Tucson will be my first sprint car race of the year.
