Cowtown Midget Weekend Concludes With One Final Twist
Kennedale TX (3/6/10) by DarinShort.com. After a thrilling battle between Danny Stratton and Brad Loyet on Friday night at the Cowtown Midget Championships, fans were treated to ‘Round 2’ as those same two drivers swapped positions in the $3,000 to win 35-lap championship feature.
When the checkered flag fell, Danny Stratton was able to hold off a wheelie-popping, high-riding Brad Loyet by less than a car length.
But after the dirt balls stopped flying, one final unforeseen twist was thrown into the mix.
A post-race inspection from the SMRS/USAC officials found that the Stratton entry exceeded the ‘width measurement’ relegating the talented driver to a 24th place finish.
This stunning conclusion to the weekend’s event moved the Loyet family-owned #05 to the point and was awarded the championship victory.
And in the hotly contested 50-lap companion Mod Fast 50 sanctioned by NCRA, Chanute Kansas veteran driver John Allen found himself taking the lead from Clyde Dunn Jr. early on in the race, only to lose it back to Dunn 10 laps later, then dropping back as far as 4th, then rallying back to the point and taking home an equally unpredictable win. This was the first time Allen had visited Cowtown Speedway since the 2000 season.
Complete event results, including the ASCS2 series opener, pictures, video clips and much more will be posted at www.CowtownSpeedway.com during the day on Sunday, as they become available.
Thank you to the fans and race teams that supported this event and coming next Saturday, March 13th will be the regular season point’s opener at Cowtown featuring the Sprint Series of Texas.

I bet Mr. Clyde Dunn was a little "freaked" out by that mod finish...
If this post isn't results, stories or something c
constructive, it isn't me!

He was probably more than a "Li'l Freaked" out on Saturday after winning his qualifying feature Friday night by over 1/2 lap...
Video and more, now up at www.cowtownspeedway.com - enjoy - we had a great weekend of action, side-by-side racing, plot twists and turns; and there were no reported injuries over the weekend, so we're thankful for that too!

Darin;
You did a good job with the prerace talk, it was interesting.
Next time "you" should announce everything but the mods, although
entertaining the local track announcer is pretty clueless about
anything but the locals and his buddy lil freaky.
If I heard Brad "Loy-ay" one more time, and who is Danny La-socki? How many laps were left after the last midget restart? Who were any of the drivers in the one 600 heat?
This happens every time I come to Cowtown for the ASCS shows, you
don't get any details on any drivers but the locals. Grab that mic and
take over.
The racing was great, that midget feature was outstanding as was the 600 with Crawford and Jones, till Crawford went over...Cowtown racing never disappoints.

Porsche Pete. I totally agree about the announcer. If any announcer can't take the time to go meet the drivers - ask how to pronounce their name and take notes as to what car they are in then they should never be paid to announce. "Lo-YEA", Cher RELL (Sherrell), and I was never sure what he was trying to say for Chet Gherke. I'm sure Darin texted him about that one. Even Eslick he mispronounced. And don't get me started about his grammar. But I've learned to live with that at race tracks.... some what...

Cowtown has everything good racing , good food , good facilities , show is run and promoted well, they just need an announcer or at least one when the Big shows are there, Big Chris is pretty bad, talks about to much of everything but the racing and yep is clueless to who and what he is announcing. Still can't wait for the ASCS shows there , be in the pits though and not subjecting myself to hearing a bad announcer. Great show Sat.
