I enjoyed the Lucas Oil production of the 24th Chili Bowl Nationals, but they spent too much time on in-car and speed shot footage, and interviews, and lost the concept of the real racing that was going on during the event. If you want to see all of the good racing action that went on during all 5 days, go to www.motorsportvideo.com and order the complete event. They also missed the actual excitement of Kevin getting out of the car on both of his winning nights and showing his emotion for the victory. Check with Amy Swindell about good race production. Hooray for Kevin though and the great drive by Sammy!!!!

hmmm - I missed the Chili Bowl on TV. I thought it was going to be on 2/14 - 2:00 Central on SPEED. I guess I missed something? HOWEVER - I must agree with you - even before I have seen the TV production - there was so much good racing this year I'm sure SPEED didn't cover much of it. I have yet to be disappointed in one of your videos, and I would like to thank you now.

It WAS on a 2:00PM Central on 2/14, at least on my TV.

I got it recorded,Carol, and I owe it all to you.The times that my friends kept telling me were inaccurate so I used your suggestion.I am confused at the first post on this thread because we recorded Kevin running over to his Dad on Saturday night and also the arm pumping exit from his car.

I still intend to order the video as I think all the qualifying events show the real story. What a great way to recapture the reality of the best Chili Bowl ever.

IIRC - Kevin and Sammy stood on Sammy's car and Sammy raised Kevin's hand high in the air. SPEED did show Kevin running to Sammy but not much of the father/son celebration that followed.

I realize the SPEED show was all about the Saturday A main - but the coverage from the previous nights' action was practically non-existent -- Tues thru Thurs racing action got under 20 seconds each of "highlights" from the A mains and Friday's A got a whopping 10 seconds of coverage.

They didn't pick up on Sammy's final charge from the back until he was up to 7th ... If you weren't there - it would seem like pretty decent coverage -- but if you were there and saw all that went on I think you'd agree that it was the "Cliff's Notes" version of the Chili Bowl.

That's why it's always better to be their in person at watch the event . TV never captures the real racing most of the time ... Just my 2 cents worth.

I'm sure that's probably truer at the Chili Bowl than most places, there's probably five things happening at once. I saw probably because I've never had the privilege of being there.
