Time to right a serious wrong at the Sprint Car Hall of Fame, It's long over due.

Just chatting to his wife on facebook and she listed a few facts:

Do you know he was one of the original World Of Outlaw drivers? He won the first Gold Cup at Chico, the last Gold Cup winner in a Super Modified at West Capitol. He won the first Woo race at Calistoga, he took the Copper World Classic by winning in a midget then getting into a sprinter and winning that too. Did you know Ascot closed with Johnny holding a track record he took away from A.J. Foyt? He won a Gold Cup, was Motor Sports Press Association Oval Track driver of the year, West Capitol Raceway Track Champion, San Jose Cavalcade winner and the NARC champion all in a two year span? He began driving quarter midgets at age 10, Micro Midgets , Hardtops, Supermodifieds, Sprint Cars, midgets, Indy Cars and Stock cars at Riverside and in Australia. I could go on and on with his acolades....why doesn't Knoxville know this???

Well it's time they knew it.

A work in progress, Bobby Gerould has put together a career win list for Johnny Anderson. It can be seen on his HammerdownUSA website www.hammerdownusa.com/AndersonJohnny.htm

It's a mystery to me why Johnny hasn't yet been inducted. I'd love to know what goes through the minds of some of the voters.

I don't think anything goes through their minds - that's the problem. Johnny Anderson should be in. Bobby Davis Jr should be in. Frankie Kerr should be in. Gary Wright should be in. Voters who cast a ballot for Glen Fitzcharles should have their voting privileges revoked.

I won't degrade anyone who has had the honor of being selected into the Hall of Fame, but I also have issues with the voters about the "Midnight Cowboy's" lack of acceptance into a body that he so richly deserves. And why I am at it let's not forget Jimmy Boyd.

Wow. Thanks for the info. Just crazy.

Luna's Ford engine style that won 2 WoO titles and 3
Kings Royals before a weight rule against the best EVER
in their prime and now DOMINATES super dirt late model
racing is no longer allowed/wanted in a WoO sprint
car.... Was Luna a miracle worker?

I grew up at West Capitol, and my first girlfriend was the daughter of a super modified driver. I followed the sport since I ws 7 years old and finally became a sprint car owner/driver. To watch Anderson, Van connet, Gordon, Wasina, Sue, Baker, Patterson, etc....... on a weekly basis was always a great show. Johnny deserves the HoF for sure !

All that and he did a small thing down here in Australia too... he introduced us to sprintcars, that's right, the first sprintcar to ever turn a tyre in Australia was the legendary (down here) "Anderson Sprintcar," Garry Rush bought it off him and became a legend and it was still known as the "Anderson Sprintcar".

Have to agree on Johnny being a great midget driver.I believe back in the late 60s johnny and Hank Butcher drove the black Faas midgets out in the midwest for a summer. Not only was both of them fast but was also one of the better looking midgets around.
