The question of "Does it really matter" may enter your mind. YES, it DOES matter. It matters in so many ways that we are still struggling to find a way to describe why.

a few tries

1. The Grandstands were built as a shrine of sorts to honor the Oklahoman spirit, and to embody the history racing had made in Oklahoma up to 1954---and beyond. Yes it was intended to be a money maker, and to survive it needs to be. However OkC is coming up on 100 years of auto racing, and somehow cashing in all of that for a parking lot somehow seems wrong.

2.If you have ever stayed out of trouble just so you could get back to the speedway again, it has had a hand in your raising as well. You may not owe the future what was given to you, but you may owe it to yourself to try to pay it forward. Racing has had its share of indiscretions, sins if you will, but it has held a stronger line on morality than most any other sport from what I can tell. Smart kids learn early that if they want to get a ride, and stay there, some kinds of trouble are simply not acceptable- i.e. drugs, child abuse etc.

The Speedway is a community, and it does have a hand in raising kids. that's a fact.

3. There is an old saying-"Power perceived, is power acheived".

In this case, a small group of powerful, wealthy people has almost convinced the slumbering sleeping giant that there is nothing he can do. Most times we let things slide, life is too short to worry about everything.

They are fully aware that you people are part of the giant, and that the rest of the giant will listen to you if it needs to. They will spend millions and millions of your own tax dollars to convince you to vote for them or their causes. They will also spend millions of your own tax dollars to tear down the things that matter to you.

There ARE true public servants out there, but here it really is getting murky as to who is and is not. There are many in this country watching and wondering if the little guy has lost another fringe benefit of his rights.

When and where is the line drawn. How far is enough?

Well said Brian.

Guys and gals we still have a fighting chance but we really need people to attend the court hearing today. Whether or not your testifying or just sitting in the crowd, we need the support.

This isnt about Lanny or me or you, this is about the issue at hand but also much more. This is about the ENTIRE racing community, the fans, our families, our history, and how closing the speedway will impact many of our lives.

Hopefully we can have a great turn out in court and show them the ENTIRE racing community is behind this.

If you have contributed to the fight in any way.. A huge THANKS goes out to you and what your doing no matter how big or how small. The Save Fair Speedway group has done an amazing job and a huge THANKS goes out to you as well.
