Before I get angry and start saying nasty things .... can someone please explain to me why the WoO has been dropped for the Mini Gold Cup??? I was all ready to order tickets on Monday. I had people flying in for this race plus several more from the bay area. I guess we will now skip this event and focus on Tulare. Nothing against a locals race but we get to see the locals all year, the WoO is only in town three weekends a year!

Does any of this have to do with Handy Promotions????

From the Silver Dollar website:

The season starts on March 12 and 13 with the annual Mini Gold Cup. This race will feature 410-winged sprint cars. A hefty $50,000 total purse over the two nights of racing solidify this event as one of the biggest 410-races in California. Friday night main event's winner will receive $4,000 while Saturday night's winner will receive $8,000. This year's version of the Mini Gold Cup will be unsanctioned, technically making it an open show for 410 winged sprints. The rules and specifications for this weekend will follow the guidelines of the King of California Golden State Series. More...

right you are. everyone ragged on me when i stated my opinion that the woo goodyear deal could be a game changer as far as local teams spending the money for tires if they could only use them for woo. the thing is, if the mini is going to be run under GSC rules, are the woo teams going to come and run if they have to buy hoosiers for one race? it works both ways. or does it even matter to them? if buying goodyears for a weeked is expensive, how many local teams will pony up for tulare woo? the mini could still be a woo show (with out outlaws) lol.

to indy and beyond!!

Not only do teams have to pay for the tires..... I heard teams are also going to have to pay a certain amount of money to the outlaws on top of the pit entry to race with them. I dont know if this is true or not but thats an expensive race early on in the season....

Maybe if you have questions about why its not an Outlaw race you should call the Handy office and ask questions, instead of stirring shit up on a message board.

It looks like the purse hasn't changed much from what it would have been if it was an Outlaw show. So other than seeing those 8 cars the outlaws bring what are you complaining about?

Stirring shit??? He's just quoting what was posted on there(Silver Dollar) website and YES there is a BIG difference in the purse. Look up last years purse on WoO site from Mini Gold-Cup, it's definitely not the same. Oh by the way 8 cars is completely inaccurate. This early in the season racing will bring in the range of 15-20 cars and drivers to Calif. for the Outlaw shows. It doesn't matter to me, because I had to choose between Tulare or Mini Gold-Cup and I chose Tulare since its only 2 hours away instead of 8-9 hours to Chico. I'll be there for the Gold-Cup in Sept. anyway's.

Trophy Cup......Best race of the year hands down!

I posted doubts about the MGC being a WoO sanctioned race a while back and GT immediately posted that it would indeed be a sanctioned race. OK Gary whats the scoop?

According to the WoO every driver is required to be a member of Dirtcar and purchase a membership for $125. No one will be permitted to race without it regardless of the track if it's a WoO sanctioned race. Last year WoO took care of the memberships for those drivers that weren't regular members. I was given Evan's member number which was already recorded with Dirtcar from last year and ready for renewal. I was also told there were no exceptions this year, no membership no racing.

Guys, the WoO Mini Gold Cup has been on the Silver Dollar schedule for the past three months (front page). They had an ad for Monday tickets sales. What gives??? What changed in the past week? I wonder if the WoO is still sanctioning the Gold Cup?? They will still run Goodyears and charge the $125 for that event as well!!!!!

I will NOT be attending the Mini Gold Cup as I will take my money and group of people to Tulare. We will be able see the locals all year long at the multiple GSC events. It's not very often us West Coasters get to see the best sprint car drivers in the world; Schatz, Haud, Kinser, Saldana, Meyers, Kinser, Sides, Lasoski, Sammy, Dollansky, Kenenah .....

One disappointed fan that is not happy with Handy Promotions!

I just changed my flight to a week earlier. Ready for my first visit to Tulare!!! Thankfully Southwest doesn't charge any fees for the change. Another disappointed fan with unhandy Promotions!

The only Mini Gold Cup I have attended was a few years ago when it was a GSC event with no WoO sanction, it was awesome! I don't think this is a bad move to go unsanctioned, I think this will bring more local cars. $125 member fee for a chance to run the b main and then buying garbage goodyears for the same event will keep plenty of locals from racing any show across the country. I hate to say it but I think the Tulare show could be one of the least attended WoO shows for our locals in years. Too much cash is spent before you even hit the track. I don't care if the Gold Cup in sept goes unsanctioned, the racers who want to shoot for the big money will still show up no matter who puts it on and real race fans will still show up too. WoO is in serious dire straits in my opinion. They are losing tracks left and right. WoO has to be one of if not the most mismanaged organizations in major motorsports, they seem to know very little about what has made this sport work for decades. Locals are the backbone of WoO shows without em nobody will pay $40 a ticket for 15cars.

Locals have to buy Goodyears to run two races, plus join for $125.00, plus pit fees. Woo guys will have their Goodyears anyhow...Let's see March is iffy with the weather, so for a $10,000.00 increase in sanction fee, special insurance required by Woo from their insurance company. I have not seen on Handy's website for ticket sales that it was a WoO sanctioned event. I know WoO has had it on theirs, but nothing was signed, sealed and delivered. Alan, was trying to look out for the local racers as we are in a tough economy, so he added to the Saturdays to win , to make it $8000.00 ., more than double a regular GSC to win. What if it was an WoO sanction, got rained out and drivers have bought tires, plus paid their additional $125.00, motels, etc, how would that set for our locals?

A little expensive ??? You have to look at all aspects.

Guys, the main point I am trying to make it the WoO sanctioned MGC was on the Silver Dollar website for three months. They had an ad for Monday tickets sales (both recently pulled). Why change it this week? Did Handy Promotions just figure this stuff out this week?? All the facts everyone above has stated were known for several months now.

The local GSC and Civil War races are good but not even close to a WoO show. It's extremely exciting to see the locals vs. the WoO drivers. It's worth the $40. They only shows that come close are the Dirt Cup & Trophy Cup.

The Goodyear thing is a change but so was the change to Hooiser several years ago. The $125 does provide over a half million in insurance ... which some locals don't have. This move really screws over the locals running Tulare. Now they have to pay the $125 and buy Goodyears and can't use until the Gold Cup in Sept.

Yes I said stirring shit. He obviously came to post his opinion on the topic when he already knew the answer. He also posted it in two locations, once on the main board and once on the norcal board, even though I'm sure he knew where he was going to get his best answer. He still asks the question when the obvious answer is already out there. Obviously the mini gold cup is no longer an outlaw race. Obviously the gold cup is still an outlaw race. This can all be determined by whats on their site and by common sense. The latest press releases states both of these facts. Also they have already been selling tickets for the gold cup advertising it as an outlaw race so the tickets that have been sold would require refunds and cost them more money in the long run.

You're a fan as you've stated. You should look at it from a business perspective. Outlaw sanctioning fee is AT LEAST 10k a night as was last stated. All the outlaw drivers get in to the pits for free. The minimum purse for an outlaw race is something rediculous and paying that for two nights of racing is a huge financial burden for any track at the beginning of the season. I would say its at least 100k to run a two day outlaw race. What happens if it rains? Sure they don't pay the purse but they already had to pay a non-refundable deposit for the date and get nothing in return. Is this a gamble you are willing to take with your money? I'm sure its not.

You keep talking about the tire thing like cars run the same tire more than one night of racing. The majority of teams don't. Especially if they want to be competitive.

If you're willing to put up 100k, with no guarantee you're gonna make it back, I say do it. Until then don't blame promoters for making sound business decisions to keep racing going.

Eveyone keeps missing the damn point ,..,. can no one read on this site!!!!!!!!!

The track annouced the MGC as a WoO show for the past three months. Due to this, fans have made plans with flights and other travel arrangements. Did they just figure this out this week with the large scantion fee?? I dont' give a shit about tires, purse, the weather or the taco truck across the street ... that is not my point here! Don't announce a race as a WoO race and then pull it several months later. This is the same crap Kings Speedway pulled last year and everyone jumped all other that.

#1 - To answer your points above, currently the Chico website has the Gold Cup as a WoO race and MGC as non-WoO. Last week, both shows were WoO ... if you paid any attention. But just like the MGC, they could pull the WoO form the Gold Cup a month before. We will see what happens. I will NOT buy advanced tickets in case Chico pulls the same crap as the MGC.

#2 - This tire debate is too funny. You say the drivers will buy new tires for each race. Other people come on and say they it's sucks to have to buy new tires for a WoO race they can't use at future races. Please make up your mind here. I am a fan in the stands and am nuetral on this subject.

#3 - I never said Chico has to put up the money for a WoO show. But they did ......as it's been on their site for THREE MONTHS!!!!!!!!! (until this week)

Any more questions?????

PS - we still don't have an answer why the WoO was pulled ... and yes I have emailed the track. That is the entire point of all this .... WHY?

I agree having the Mini Gold Cup listed on the track website for the last three months or whatever the time period is as a WoO event and then change it to a local show with no reason is a total joke. Chico said on their website it was a WoO event. Tickets were set to go on sale next Monday according to the Chico website. WoO didn't force them to post this. Explain that please. I'm coming from Indiana and booked my plane ticket and had to change it to Tulare after Chico changed their mind.

The Mini Gold Cup will still be one hell of a show. It will as it has in the past, draw talent from up and down the west coast. I'll see the Outlaws in Tulare and have a blast in Chico for the MGC. I'd rather see the Outlaws get schooled by TK at Thunderbowl anyway.
