Craig Dollansky, Robbie Farr, Jason Johnson, Danny Smith, Steven Lines. Tatnell was a DNF due to getting together with Johnson and sent to pits after parts were on the track. Kerry Madsen was a DNF in the B.

Jim, Are you lucky enough to be "down under" or are you also suffering through winter in the

Midwest? Wherever you're at your reports are appreciated.

Dollansky Brilliant At Sungold Stadium
Saturday, 2 January 2010 by Gavin White

Highly rated American World of Outlaws star Craig Dollansky showed Warrnambool Sprintcar fans why he is one of the most talented drivers in a Sprintcar when he masterfully worked his way past race long leader Robbie Farr to win round 8 of Performance Wholesale World Series Sprintcars presented by Coast FM and 3YB. The first day of January 2010 will be long remembered for a great race on a perfect racetrack that provided a top and a bottom groove that had fans and driver’s alike raving about how good the Warrnambool venue was.

Farr and Indiana’s Danny Smith started on the front row of the 35 lap final while Brooke Tatnell and Dollansky began from the second ahead of David Murcott and Max Dumesny. Farr shot to the lead and was on a mission running the top as Smith was in hot pursuit while the racing behind was superb. Dollansky, Tatnell, Murcott, Max Dumesny, Steven Lines and American Jason Johnson were all embroiled in a thrilling battle. Ryan Farrell and local ‘super sub’ Stephen Bell was also in the mix.

With 19 laps to go Tatnell and Murcott came together on the main straight with Tatnell’s right side nerf bar damaged and parts were left on the track for which a caution was instigated. Tatnell was shown the mechanical defect flag for an incomplete crash bar and was sent infield much to Tatnell’s displeasure.

Following the restart Jason Johnson was the big mover as he looked to elevate himself toward the podium while Farr set about gapping the chasing pack including Dollansky who had shot by Smith and Tatnell and at one stage slid up on the inside of the tearaway leader.

Farr was superb in traffic and managed to edge his way clear with several lapped cars between he and the impressive Dollansky. With six laps remaining Dumesny slowed on the main straight and brought on the caution that Farr ultimately didn’t want to see.

What occurred at the restart was simply awesome as Dollansky and Farr raced wheel to wheel for the lead for the entire lap before Dollansky slid up into the lead and powered away. Recording his quickest lap of the race on lap 33 ensured the man known simply as ‘the crowd pleaser’ charged to a quarter of a lap lead and the eventual win.

Following Dollansky to the line was Farr, a fast finishing Jason Johnson who earlier set quick time, Danny Smith, Steven Lines, Ryan Farrell, Andrew Scheuerle, David Murcott, Stephen Bell and Matt Egel in tenth. Steve Caunt, Bryan Mann, Carl Dowling, Cameron Gessner and Jamie Veal rounded out the finishers.

“It really comes down to the track and that was a racy track tonight. For my first time here I was fortunate to win the race, Robbie was good tonight and hopefully we have a few more wins left yet,” said feature winner Dollansky.

“Hopefully it was a good show for you fans because that’s what it’s all about,” said the winner.

Robbie Farr was upbeat with his return to form following a horror night at Avalon Raceway two nights earlier when he failed to transfer from the B-main.
“It was fun for us but we just got pick pocketed at the end but that’s Craig (Dollansky), he is one of the best in the world,” lamented Farr.

“They just said his 33rd lap was his quickest so yeah he was very quick once he got by me,” confirmed Farr.

“From a drivers standpoint that was a lot of fun,” beamed third place Jason Johnson.

Heat race winners were Brooke Tatnell, Danny Smith, Craig Vanderstelt, Peter Lack, Brett Milburn, Cameron Gessner, James McFadden and Andrew Scheuerle. Terry Pitt and Glen Sutherland advanced from the C-main before Steve Caunt impressively won the B-main ahead of early leader Grant Anderson, Bryan Mann and Jamie Veal the final transferor.

Jason Johnson was the overall Eastcoast Pipeline Speedweek champion with his consistency and excellent results particularly at the Murray Bridge and Mount Gambier Speedweek rounds where he was victorious.

Ben McLeod earlier won the fourth round of the Oval Express Formula 500 Series that also doubled as the Jack Willsher Cup. In an excellent finish McLeod drove around early leader Mick Pronger to take the win and smash the 20 lap race record that was set by Willsher in 1973. A full F500 report to follow

WSS standings on sprintcarworld.com show Tatnell up 32 points on Farr and Max Dumesny (like the Madsens, older brother of Mitchell) only 38 back and another six points to Farrell. As far as these guys not getting out of the B, are there no provisionals or have most used them up. The writer wrote as if it were another barnburner of a race.

Adding $6 trillion of debt in his 1st term and now if
elected again he wouldn't have to worry about an
electorate in 2016 so the sky is the limit. And his EPA
would continue to put the screws to oil drilling and
mining for coal. Can you say bankruptcy.

Hey, H2H!! It's Sandy Fauver, how did you see the pass Dollansky made?!!! I heard about it at 5:30 AM (!) this morning when Rod called me to tell me they won. Are they putting it on the internet?

Also, does anyone know where I can find any photo's of it?

I, too, am freezing my butt off here in California!! Coldest it's been in the 10 years we have been gone from Washington!!! I was in Washington for 7 days at Christmas and the weather was no different than we were having in California!!

No provisionals, guess that's fair as anything. Freezing your butt off hey? Check the U.S. National Weather service for Fargo,ND. It is 9:23pm and its 20 below zero F here in Fargo. Low for tonight is 29 below zero. And just saw one of those ads on tv from some Save The Polar Bears organizatiion, showed a Polar Bear standing on a small iceberg and the announcer is saying "they are running out of food" and "register to send only $16 a month", kinda like Save the Children Federation. Checks in the mail.
