Interesting fact .....2009 National Speedway Directory:
# of race tracks (Oval, drag, and road courses:
IA 55
IN 55
OH 55
TX 70
CA 52
PA 64
I think this puts IA & PA as the most tracks per capita.
Least # of race tracks:
Rhode Island 1
Vermont 3
Mass. 3
HI 4

PA estimated population as of 2006 = 12,440,621
12,440,621/64 = 194,385 per track.
Iowa estimated population as of 2008 = 3,002,555
3,002,555/55 = 54,592 per track.
Ohio estimated population as of 2008 = 11,485,910
11,485,910/55 = 208,834 per track.
Indiana estimated population as of 2008 = 6,376,792
6,376,792/55 = 115,942 per track.
Population numbers were taken from wikipedia, so take it or leave it. Out of the four, Iowa ranks the highest with Indiana coming in second.

I think you have your math exactly backward. You haven't figured tracks per capita (person). You've figured capita per track ( the number of residents per track) That puts Iowa dead last and Indianna next to last.

One time Alan Brown did that and North and South Dakota came out 1-2 in most tracks per capita.

That would make it 1 track for every 53,613 people in South Dakota. Wikipedia estimated population for South Dakota is 804,194 / 15 = 53,613.

There has to be more?

This is good stuff!
What are the tracks that have pizza, chicken sandwiches, sell beer and have a paved pit area?
JK! I do wonder how the average attendace at dirt racing events would compare from state to state. I expect that the Dakotas might have fewer other attractions for people to spend their money.
Not sure though!
