Since the powers that be want to build a modern facility. I was wondering what it cost to build one of the nicer ones around the area.

The first year Lucas was the major sponsor of the Chili Bowl, one of their motorsports marketing guys told me Lucas Oil Speedway was over a $4 million dollar facility and Outlaw Speedwas was close to $3 million. I read where Dodge City would cost $7 million in todays dollars if it was built the same way as originally built.

To build something along the lines of a motorsports complex would be way beyond what anyone would be willing to invest in this market. An asphalt track would not be a good investment, and to build a combination dirt track, drag strip, motorcross facilitly would be $10 million bare bones facility. Maybe our best shot at a new track is on tribal land with a casino attached. Those seem to be built with ease and go up pretty fast.

Though a few of them are going under as well. I think Hollywood Hills is being closed b/c of the grandstands was built inproperly.

I got a email to the powers to be who would know details of Lucas Oil and am awaiting an answer. Would think your lovely Mayor and Norrick just stating that to appease the racing community.

When this first started happening I did a little cost analisys a few years back.

Grand stand is one of the most expensive items around 800,000 or more

guardrails or concrete wall is expensive as well

You would be surprised at what lighting cost well into the 100,000 and more like 200,000

other electrcal aroun 100,000 or more.

Fencing is expensive as well probably 10's of thousand $$$

Drainage isnt cheap either.

Out buildings for concessions and bathrooms will be 100,000 easy and more like 200,000

Paved parking and pits will costover 500,000 as well probably grvel in most spots

Land cost in Ok. at the rock bottom around not in a flood plane $2500 an acre 40 to 80 needed

If your lucky you buy land with the right soil if not hold on to your wallet.

The local politicans might want to have a talk with you as well

These are just a few items I think rock bottom would be around 3,000,000. If you do something like Lucas or TMS would be between 10 to 20 million. Lucas has tech building, parts house, car wash, restraurants, nite club, shops, go cart track etc. But if you can get these items from the fargrond it cut cost way down.
