One of the better races I have seen in a while. Talking to the locals in the pits down there, who never seen a live sprint car race, and they were truly amazed. I mentioned how could they watch taxicabs(nascrap) which was just down the road instead of this form of racing. They agreed, but sprint cars are not bigtime in the south. Why did not the track have enough pushtrucks? That always seems to be the case whenever Sprint Cars have a show at non -sprint car tracks. And the 50/50 draw. I almost choked when I heard the prize. Sort of brought thoughts of Lou Haney from Green Acres to mind. And the delays for a two division show-unbelievable. Reminds me of the Earl at the first HBO saying he had to sell a few more hotdogs to break even.

Sounds like it was a heckuva race. Just wondering what the 50/50 prize was?

Paging Andrew S Quinn... I heard a rumor that you were there? What track would you compare it to.. Eldora? Will you be at Paducah and Mini-Eldora (Pevely) in a little over a week?

i understand it is advertised as a 4/10 mile track...depending on how many feet are in a mile in the state of TN, Eldora (.43 miles) could be 150 feet further around the mean groove.

Lincoln 1845 ft/.35 mile T1=118MPH
Eldora 2287 ft/.43mile T3=135MPH
Port 2716 ft/.51 mile T3=TBD
Grove 2792 ft/.53 mile T3=135MPH
Selinsgrove 2847 ft/.54 mile T1=136MPH

The 50/50 was somewhere in the high $400 range...There were about 8-10k ppl there...??? I kinda chuckled when they said what was up for grabs...Maybe those fans didnt know what 50/50 was......With the turn out and great racing they'd be fools to not run there again next year...Hell I'll promote it...

Yep I was there, and would compare it to Eldora a bit. Seems a bit smaller than Eldora, and banked a bit higher! Almost like a higher banked Lincoln Speedway. Racing was the best WoO race I have seen in ages. Hope they come back there next year.

50/50 was pathetic. This is where every promoter should read Chris Economaki's book. "SELL IT"!!! Nobody was selling the 50/50 to people. Hire some scantily clad chicks, and "SELL IT" They were doing ok in the food concessions, but could also learn a lesson by visiting Lebanon Valley where the food line moves very quickly!

I'm planning on being at both Paducah and Pevely. Just put in for getting out of work early that Friday this morning at work. As long as the weather is nice,it really is gonna be "Good Friday" !! Pevely has been on the hitlist for ages,Paducah will be an added bonus. You coming over Chilly W. and mentor Bill W.??

Good to hear you had a good time. If they make a return trip, curiosity might get the best of me. I'm prepared to make "Friday" as "Good" as possible... have the day off, headin' to Paducah. My pops and that Bill W figure will be along. You'll like Pevely. If I like Paducah half as much as I do Pevely, life will be good.

The Mighty Quinn has been itching to smell some methanol badly, and now that I live near the real adventures, decided to try and catch a whiff. A fairly good time happened in the process. Was waiting for Eldora's now cancelled USAC race for this weekend. Now I'm stuck with no sprintcars to watch. A couple more weeks of winged racing, then I'll be watching them without the Trainers as you call them!

When are you coming back to Indiana Offie??

Good to hear that you, your dad and Bill W. are coming across,Chilly W. We were talking about you guys that live near "Heaven" the other night, and wondered what you do the other 6 nights of the week??? I also didnt see you at the Chili (W) Bowl, and not to many posts here as of late made me wonder if you are getting closer to getting married???

See ya on Friday

Esquire, the racing season around here takes awhile to get cookin' but there is plenty of action that isn't at the Holy Grail...I banged out a modest schedule with 80 open-wheel dates or so that are within shoutin' distance, so don't feel bad about us in the Promised Land...

ASQ... I missed the Chili Bowl this year... planned to save some PTO & $$$ and fly out to the D.C. area around May, go to the Grove & Lincoln. A few of us at work found out in early Feb though that we're "dead men walking" - out of a job come late July. So I put a hold on the trip until I get something figured out w/ the job situation. Still have a steady ride, but nothing big is planned as you are insinuating...

I'll be catching some of your racing later this summer Bill W. when I come out for my Knoxville trip, then do the Tour 'N Topless tour after, along with stops at Husets and Thunder Hill for the All Stars too.

Chilly W. its time to come to the real heaven. Your young, and havent bitten the big one yet,and work is going down the drain there. Dont wait for years like I had to. Theres more than one road here in Indy that heads west,so you could go to Knoxville from time to time. If you can find time that is,theres an awful lot of racing going on here in the summer months without driving a day and a half to see it.

Winchester is coming up in a couple weeks. Your welcome to make a return trip here, just leave the rain at home this time!

It may take that van a day and a half, but downtown Indy is a mere 7 hours from my front door...

FROM OPEN WHEEL TIMES...

Leonard Lee is someone I met at Williams Grove in 1984. I still have that Omar’s Butcher Shop T-shirt. Always an acerbic monitor, Leonard is unhappy. Last year, Lon Carnathan allowed him and Jason Solwold to race WoO whenever NST did not. Leonard had leverage; both sides courted him. This year, NST is no more. Outlaws are 27 deep yet purse money is the same old bowl of soup. Lee feels that everyone will make less money in 2007 as 2006.

Also on Leonard’s list of grievances is the format used to align A-main starting spots. Last year, outlaws time trialed, inverted six to transfer five with the top 12 split into two dashes and later, one 10-car dash.

In an effort to make heats more exciting, first and second-place go to the dash. The fastest two cars which fail to finish first or second also make the dash. Only four are inverted now. It has made third through eighth no place to be. Ninth fastest equates to the first row of the first heat. Eighth fastest must pass someone in the fourth heat to avoid starting from the sixth row of the A-main.

“Sprint car racing is the only sport that penalizes you for being fast,” said Lee in a familiar echo. Leonard feels that if the World of Outlaws truly wants to be NASCAR, they should simply time and race with no invert, no heats, no dash. Just go

I'm surprised a Ford can go that fast,Bill W. I know Chilly W's Chevy will go fast, at least in Illinois where its really flat, and you can get that thing going!! It also made pretty good time going to Salem last year, after plans A & B went down the drain first.

Maybe I should reword that to theres a lot more sprint car racing within a day and a halfs drive here in Indiana, than out there in "Heaven" where they race once a week.

Good thing Oscar posted ,cause that reminded me to call in at Raymore,Missouri to see how the operation went. After I got the answering machine,I called Dane, and inquired with him. Then Bud called me back. Glad to hear it was a success. You might wanna post about that on the board here so others can learn about it too.

Just signed up for the Hoseheads forum..... got tired of the crummy attitude, childish stuff going on in "Other" forum. You folks have positive things to say and I lkie that.

My first question..... everybody liked the racing at Bull last weekend. Was it because it is a great racetrack, or is it because the re-united group is meshing into the premier racing machine it once was ? Personally, I didnt care for the quality of racing I saw last year from either touring body. (And I saw both from coast to coast)

Thanx, guys. Out

Larry
