Heard from some creditable sources that this thing is a go. Just wondering if anyone else had anything to say or add.

not a new series. The Sprint Bandits are going to be a full time series in 2010. Will be $3k to win races. the "to win" part is lower than USAC but the rest of the purse is higher.
oh, and they are not going to race the same weekends as the ASCS/ lucas Oil National Series.

I hope they run 410's. I would hate to see a divide in the non-wing ranks like the wing, 410 - 360 thing.

Well, based on the schedule the ASCS National series had this past season, there should be plenty of weekends for the Bandits to run.

Yeah there will be lots of opportunities to race as the National series will only run 25 races this year.

Biggest hurdle I recall about the winged Bandits series was a spec head motor... assisting people that couldn't (or wouldn't) afford a new spec head motor to "assimilate" their existing 410 into the fold. Car counts... if you expect people to build a spec motor for $20-30k minimum... not good.
$7500 spec motor? That doesn't draw folks too well. If 360s don't draw the crowds... who is going to travel 6 hrs to see a spec motor race?
I think the world of Mr. Hahn & his efforts... more power to everything he touches. SOMEDAY we will see a national nonwing 360 ASCS series... that will kick major tail. Big car counts. The people WILL follow...

Scott Traylor, Kirk Elliott and Scotty Cook talk with ASCS owner Emmett Hahn about the 2009 season. Hahn also talks about his plans for the 2010 season for both the National Tour and the non-wing Sprint Bandits.

HRP running a 410 non wing show makes no sense. Several years ago, I went and watched the Outlaws. I remember a low car count because the number of 410 winged cars in Texas is very low. However, the number of 410 non wing cars is even less.
Don't get me wrong. Loved the track. Loved the facility. Just needed more cars.

I was thinking the same thing...however; I am only speculating that as long as there aren't any ASCS races the same night, there will likely be a decent draw of 360 cars. I am a regular at the Lakeside TnT race and a good 360 driver can compete well with the non-wing 410 cars. As few 410's as there are in TX it would seem like a good opportunity for some 360 guys to take the lid off and race for a larger purse than the regional ASCS pays.
Just my 2 cents

There is a slight problem with 360's running non-wing against the 410's that being most 360 guys down here run the ASCS Points, which if memory serves me correctly has a rule that if you take the track with your ASCS motor against 410 cars you forfit your points. Not many drivers around here are going to do that to run once this year, against the 410's

HRP has also killed off all local driver support. After putting out press releases outlining the 2010 racing season, including classes, at the last points race of the season, back in October, they stated that not only where they not going to run any local classes, but that there would be no points money paid for 2009. Local sentiment is pretty crappy toward the joint. Yeah, it is a fantastic facility, but you have to wonder. They are also not going to run any WoO or late model shows. Track management told me that race fans don't like to watch the late models, since they aren't that popular. . . . .

These last 2 posts leave me scratching my head, each for a different reason
1. I can't understand why racers would lose points towards their regional ASCS gig if there wasn't any other ASCS races that same weekend. Just doesn't make sense to me. I know that isn't how it's done up in KS - at least that I know of.
2. I raced at HRP a few years ago and remember that as one of the finest facilities I've been to in my 30+ years driving racecars. It's a shame to see them treating the racers like that and I would have never guessed it. This track has always seemed like such a good supporter of sprint car racing in general. Would be terrible if such a great facility ran off the racers.
