Sunday's flag to flag snooze and Saturday nights parade (fewer passes than an L.A. high school graduation) remind me just how good the Trophy Cup (Tim's incredible wall-bouncing charge from the back) and Saldana's incredible passing exhibition (WoO, 3/21/09) really were.

Obviously you were not at the track, or you wouldn't make such a stupid statement.

Saturday - no passing in heats to speak of, none in B. However - there was passing going on in the A.
26th to 11th Saturday night for our guy so I'd have to say a couple of other guys figured out the fence in 1&2 was where it was at if you wanted to move forward.
Sunday - eh...not much moving around. Henry swore he could see a reflection of himself in the track out of 4...if you were looking for action Sunday - it was mostly in the C, Heats and B.

True true - I was too busy watching the front of the pack but I did catch David and Kevin's action a bit; I did see Damion go around our guy and Jerry was nipping at his heels for a bunch of laps
I did not realize Garret finished 11th Sunday night - that's a thumbs up for those guys!
I have to say - it was well worth the long ride from Orange County. The folks at the Thunderbowl put on a great show. On to Ventura!

I didn't mean to leave you guys out, congrats on all you guys have accomplished this year. You have to be proud of the way Henry has come on the scene. For me it was well worth the trip from Phoenix, it was my first time to Tulare and won't be my last, I was truly impressed the way they run the show.

I wasn't feeling left out but thank you. I was a bit too focused on one part of the race when there was a lot of good racing going on all around the track. It just didn't seem like a lot of passing until you look at the results. They were parking in 3/4 on the bottom to make it around. I think only Kaeding was up top in 3/4 Sunday.
My first time at Tulare too - I plan to return. We had to cut our Phoenix trip to 1 day this time but we've seen a bunch of races at PIR, Manzy and Casa Grande. Always fun traveling to the valley of the sun for racing.
FYI for anyone that's interested USAC is rebroadcasting the Phoenix midget and silver crown race on the usacracing.com site at 4PM Pacific.

I only made it Saturday night, work Monday was too early to stay the second day. Sure the racing could've been better but any time at the track is enjoyable for me. Good to see you there bush..
Also good to see turn4rob.
I hope Tulare/Faria's bring this show back in 2010.

I wouldn't go so far as to say Saturday was a snooze. I had a lot of fun at the race I was at. Were we at the same race Mr. Ihatebush?
First off, thanks to the promoter, staff and crew of the Tulare Thunderbowl. I also want to thank all of the crews, car owners, drivers for showing up and making it a great weekend. Thank you also to all of the "unsung heroes" of our great sport, the push truck drivers.
Granted, I will say that Saturday the racetrack wasn't its normal multi-groove racy self. But it was still a race, in November with a lot of great names. How many races do you go to that you watch 6 drivers go under the 15 second mark and break the track record. Granted the top 15 didn't transfer from their heat races into the main so that made for a great B Main. Plus you had the heavy hitters like Levi, Darland, Hines, Damion Gardner, Hockett and so many others that are so fun to watch.
Sunday was a great show as well. The promoters even had the sense to start the show a bit earlier this weekend so that the fans weren't sitting in the cold until late at night and so that the fans could watch the race and make it home in time for work the next morning.
The one thing that troubled me was the lack of a crowd. It just didn't seem to be as big of a crowd as Tulare normally pulls in for a USAC/CRA show. In my opinion, the price of a general admission ticket might have scared people off. $30 per night per adult is steep. Not that I don't think it's worth it, because it is. But in this tough economy with so many people out of work, being laid off or having their hours cut, I don't think people are as free with their money as they used to be. I don't want the promoters not to schedule races due to the lack of a crowd.
I can't believe that the 2009 season is coming to an end. Where did the year go? Congrats to Mike Spencer and Levi Jones on becoming the 2009 champions of their respective associations.
Have fun in Ventura or Tucson or Irwindale and I'll cya Sat. the 28th @ Perris.
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone.
RIP Chet and Mark. You might be gone but never will
be forgotten.
