225 race teams from as far away as Washington, California, Iowa, Illinois and most posts between converged upon Cowtown Speedway for opening night of the 3rd Annual November Sprint Shootout presented by City Vending and the ASCS2 Series Finale presented by Eagle Chassis.

This recap is being written while races are still underway, but the top six sprint qualifiers are now locked in for Saturday's $7,000 to win 35-lap, 24-car finale.

The racing in both 25-lap sprint features could best be described as pandemoneum, as sprint drivers were racing three wide throughout both races, one driver ending up going through a newly constructed gate, a second driver trying to go through the same gate in a later incident, and when the checkered flags fell the following six sprint drivers are now locked in:

Top three finishers of A-feature #1: Travis Rilat, Tony Bruce Jr. (started 5th) and Eric Baldaccini. Andy Shouse, Kolt Walker, DonnieRay Crawford, Jonathan Beason, Brian McClelland, Kevin Ramey (from the tail) and Gary Taylor wrapped up the top 10. Front row starter Skip Wilson was unable to fire his car to take the green.

Top three finishers of A-feature #2: Wayne Johnson, Tim Crawley and Brady Bacon. The balance of the top 10 were Sam Hafertepe Jr., Dustin Morgan, J.P. Bailey, Gary Wright (from last), Scott Reneau, Justin Melton and John Ricketts.

Saturday night's twin sprint B features will advance the top 9 finishers straight up to tag the six that are locked in.

For complete results, they will be posted soon at
www.CowtownSpeedway.com in the results forum.

Saturday's action gets underway at 3:30 with hot laps and races to follow immediately after. Kids 3-5 are $2, Youth 6-12 are $5 and 13 and up are $25. Pit passes for all ages are $35.

I wouldn't be surprised if they put up a video recap at some point today too...there was plenty of action to capture last night!

Hot laps at 3:30 today, races to follow, partly cloudy and 73 is the forecast at race time. Click www.CowtownSpeedway.com for complete details.

Darin, Enjoyed the NSS , good show, even with the delay with the Electrical problems Sat. night, Sprint Car show was quite entertaining , was glad to see Brady Bacon win the deal.

Some Observations:

Bo Rawdon and Darin Short & Co. still promote this day and time ,even when others don't, it was evident with the large number of cars and crowd on a Mid November night.

Sam Haefertpe dam near hit everything on the racetrack but the water truck, Running with the WoO I guess has gave him the opposite effect of TBJ , which I will say can now can get it done about anywhere he shows up to race.Sam 15 managed to piss a few fellow competitiors off, Really liked Brian Parkers sign language to him after their incident.I was 100 yards away from him and could read the body and sign language very well and it was classic.

Was something to see Gary Wright struggle , a crash on both nights and neither being his fault as well as seeing his struggles from previous races lately tells me even the great ones struggle on occasion.

Have not sit in the stands in several years and did this time and Big Chris still sucks as an announcer , the guy still manages to talk about everything but what is actually in front of him and that is the racing, was glad the PA system went out Sat. night when the lights went out and they were not able to repair it, feel it spared us all from having to listen to him for the rest of the night which was a good thing, but next trip down it will be back to the Pit Area and watch from there, although the new guy with the long hair has potential to be a good announcer and as for "Rollo" was he even there?, looked and sounded like the guy but I bet he would deny he even was at the place.

The Ice Tea is still very tasty and the French Fries are always good and crispy.

That Babe's Chicken and all the fixins in Burleson is very tasty.

Guess the 600's are the thing now in Mini Sprints dam sure was not a shortage of them at Cowtown, 65 or so. Dam sure lots of em.

Was good to see Mr.David Jones and Co. in the parking lot Sat. , shot the shit over a few malted beverages with those fellas as well as seeing the world famous Cheese both nights who in his busy schedule of helping that Springer guy circle the 1/4 mile , Cheese did manage to make it up to the stands and grace us with his company and we were all honored by that.

Always good to see Lil Freaky and his Mod show, although was somewhat disspointed in that his cars were not as loud as usual in the graphics/Wrap department, but they were still dam pretty but scary with the skull stuff and lightning and all that, J.D. hopes to make his graphic package loud and bright on next years Sprinter to try and become like Lil Freaky in that Dept. , but not sure if that is financially possible, we shall see. Still ya gotta like the Lil Freaky show.

Wondering if Bo will keep that Plywood Gate up in turn 3 ,the Marshalla guy in the 87 managed to find it and bust it open and leave a nice big hole in it Friday night, that was quite interesting.

Wanted to stop at KT's Video extravaganza on the way home north of Denton , never been in the joint , thought I might see CCC's mural in the place as proprietor of most movies ever, but we opted to stop and Treasure Lake Casino instead and continue our Racino tour(last one of the season) and as usual I gave the Indians some cash to help build a bigger place in the future.

Just wish Cowtown was 100 miles closer would make it to the place every Sat. night.

JD you forgot to mention that the water truck caught fire on Saturday. Damnest thing I ever seen. People runnin around lookin for fire extengushers(Spelling). As rough as what the track was the water truck should have caught on fire long before it did. That announcer sucks. Glad the sound system went out. The 15 sprint would have hit the water truck if it had been closer. Good ice tea and good racing and glad to see Brady Bacon win. Wish the transformer hadn't went out. Made it gettin home late. The crowd was entertaining as we met people from Houston and Corpus and the locals were a hoot

I did not observe the Water Truck going up in flames but heard about it, guess I forgot about that.

Say one other thing is I like how Darin Short does the draw for top 6 spots in the A main, ASCS should take a look at that , makes it more interesting for the fans as well as the drivers , kind of find out who your friends really are then.

Sounds like it was not a good weekend to run a Sprint Car and your name be Sam , Sam Hafertepe makin all kinds of friends at Cowtown and then read where Sammy Swindell is making all kinds of friends at West Memphis as well with punches being thrown and fans throwin beer cans over the fence and all kinds of chaos.

Hey.....I like Sammy.....Very Dry personaltiy.....but Very Smart Racer / Engineer. I don't think he cares about being a Hollywood / Nascrap pesonality. He has risen to the top because of pure talent and engineering his own equipment. He is one smart cookie when it comes to Open Wheel Racing.

Glad to hear those of you that made it down had a good time and a safe trip home. Each of us that are involved at the track with these events pretty much lays it all out on the line in an effort to bring together the best show possible.

The racing I saw in every division was really good, and the quality of drivers in each class was excellent.

And I mean come on, how many races have you been to where the water truck filled with water is on fire? That's a trick seldom accomplished at any track...almost defies physics. We should have charged you guys more for admission just for that feat alone!

We wind up the season with the Gobbler 90 on Nov. 28 and we've orchestrated a giant food bank drive that day, anyone bringing in a canned food goods donation will get $3 off their event ticket.

And we'll announce the date of the Cowtown Midget Championships and February Fast 50 soon...until then, have a safe and enjoyable Holiday season from everyone at Cowtown Speedway!
