Just read on another board that there were less than 1000 fans in the stands for the midget / silvercrown race last night, how long will that race be around?

It was hard to tell from the stream last night with only one camera angle how many were there, but it looked like a very small crowd for sure. Hard to tell, those are big stands... The big cars car count is still way down too.

I made a point of looking at the crowd at the truck race tonight, and I can say from going to many of the original (gathering of the clan) Copper World Classics, that we had more fans at the Saturday qualifying, and qualifying races, than were there tonight for the trucks.

It was a small crowd. a couple of thousand at best. There was some great racing going on but when you start on a work day leading into NASCAR weekend it's not going to be a big draw.

From an Arizona news source.

PIR and USAC are talking about resuming the Copper World Classic as a stand-alone weekend in January 2011. Non-USAC series also might be involved.

"We've had preliminary discussions with USAC about helping us revive the traditional Copper World," PIR President Bryan Sperber said. "We're also working to add other series to the mix. We're being very cautious because the undoing of the original Copper World was economics had put that event in an upside-down situation. Some pretty big names in motorsporsts are interested in helping us do this."

I had to goggle that to see what it was.. It's very much like the stock car series that ran as the 4th division at the original Classic, but without the diversity of drivers and cars.

USAC sure made a mistake when they got in bed with NASCAR!!

Just read the post above after I posted this, and that would be great, I hope it happens.

I think that would have been 85 Bruce, before the lightening hit the bleachers...and allowed the new stands to arise from the ash's, as in Phoenix.

Do you know where that picture was taken from? I guess it would be the small hill behind three. It's defiantly not the hill we can sit on with the marker on top.
