Talks About Charlotte/Qualifying Format

CONCORD, N.C. - Steve Kinser responded to the rumors that he's signed on, along with Tony Stewart Racing, to a new Sprint Car Series in 2010.

The new series is rumored to run in the Midwest with Hoosier tires after Goodyear signed on as the new tire with the World of Outlaws.

While gearing up for tonight's race at The Dirt Track at Lowe's Motor Speedway, Kinser said he's not committed to anything yet for next season.

"I'm just hearing stuff you know," Kinser said. "Somebody said Danny (Lasoski) was on a radio show and said I was going to run in some of that stuff. There's no truth in any of that.

"I have not talked to Tony. I know nothing about it. Just the rumors everyone else is hearing."

Kinser raced with the National Sprint Tour in 2006 and finished second in the standings, but he would like to return next season with the Outlaws where he's won 20 championships.

"Right now my plans are to get everything confirmed up and come back and run the World of Outlaws like I have in every year but two," Kinser said. "I really don't know what I'm doing next season. I've got to look and see what my budget is and what's going on and where I'm racing you know with my age and stuff. I still enjoy racing. When I race, I want to race 100%."

Ascot was the greatest of all time..

West Capital wasn't half bad either..

That last paragraph smells a little fishy...First says he's gonna run WoO, then says he wants to wait and see? Good thing is, he'll be racing somewhere!

He talked this way when he was only a five time WoO champ too. Then he went on to break every single record any of his heroes had set that was breakable. Gaines won 12 in a row one year with Karl in the '70s, so Kinser won 18 or more in a row in '88. He then went on to win enough championships to top Tommy Hinnershitz on the all-time greatest list. That one took 18 winged titles to top Tommy's 9 cageless titles.

Don't forget, this is the same guy who used to bury his unspent winnings in coffee cans behind the house he was living in. Had it not been for this career, he would have become a bricklayer.

He never has seemed to be one who brags about a tomorrow he hasn't lived yet.
