Here is a shot I took at the 1979 Knoxville Nationals with Steve
Kinser behind the wheel of Karl's sprinter using a Denny Mitchell
chassis.

Thanks,I will be interested in those pic's. Any chance the 7x of Rocky Hodges was a Trostle? I have a Trostle s/n 384 and was told Rocky was possibly one of the drivers. Thanks Again.

Rocky Hodges definitely drove the McCarl #7x sprinter. I can't recall for sure if it was a Trostle car when he drove it or not. I'll have to look for the photo I have.

I'm pretty sure that the 7x chassis that year was not a Trostle built chassis, IF memory serves me correctly, it was probably one of the last McCarl chassis that Leonard built,,, Memory gets a little fuzzy after 25 years and a bunch of crashes with loose seat belts!! LOL

It definitely was a McCarl Chassis car Brian. I remember I bought a t-shirt of Hodges when he drove the McCarl #7x car. It was a black car. The t-shirt is long gone. I'll have to go back in my photo albums from the mid 1980s again and see what I do have with Hodges. I'm pretty sure I have him in the 7X and in the 20, but I can't remember if that particular #20 car was a Trostle or not. Seems like both Randy Smith and Hodges had #20 cars one year back then with Hodges usually scored as the 20H. That's just from memory, so I better see if I can locate more concrete proof for Dan.
I changed my icon to Hodges in the 7x sprinter, since I do not have the capability of posting photos in my messages (at least I don't think I can).

I located the photo of Hodges in the #20 car. The year was 1986 and it was the Strohpaul Racing #20 Trostle sprinter, so that is not going to help Dan in his quest to locate s/n 384 car/driver combo. We can eliminate the 1984 McCarl #7x, as that was indeed a McCarl Chassis and now the 1986 Strohpaul Trostle #20 with Hodges in the car. Lee Johnson has some 1984 photos of the Trostle #20 car, so maybe one of those will be the correct one. I might even have some 1984 photos of the Trostle car in my album, but Lee would be a better bet.

That car was indeed a Trostle, 1986 was the year. I was the mechanic for the House car that year. Trostle teamed up with Connie Strohpaul to field a car for Rocky. I remember one car was destroyed at Williams Grove, We had some good races, but engine problems plagued the team.
Rocky drove a Gambler for Strohpaul in Florida in Feb of 86, 1 win at East Bay, but motor problems were the curse for this team.
I would love to get a picture of that car. Can you help?

A picture of the #20 Strohpaul Trostle car I assume? I have one. I will locate it again and post it in my profile picture when I get to my home computer, so you can see it. I do not believe I have any of the Feb 1986 Gambler car.

We owned the 20 cars that rocky drove in the 80s and motor problems did not curse our team we had the best running hardest hitting motors out there at the time we worked close with warren brownfield on experimental cylinder heads we were the first ones to run the modern day down nozzel heads that my father and brownfeild invented and our cars always ran up front when there was a real driver in them. I would be very interested in pics of our 20 and 7 cars please email me if you have any I have only a few
