Tulare Thunderbowl Raceway has received noise complaints from prior races this season. The state will have a person monitoring the noise levels at the Trophy Cup and any car exceeding the state mandated fairgrounds noise level of 95 dB at 100 feet will be penalized.

95db seems unreasonably low. I wonder if the people complaining have been there since before the track or if they moved next to it then started complaining? Knoxville is 120 db I think and is right in town. I don't think anyone moved in without seeing it there.

Well actually noise is only a problem at state owned fairgrounds out here in Cali. My home track, Santa Maria Speedway, is privately owned and located a couple minutes from a city of over 90,000 people and the promoter let's all cars run muffler free if they want. I love the noise! So much more intense for spectating. Now that said, I really hope the teams get the noise level down in Tulare because I love that track and don't want it shut down by noise complaining whiners.

the real problem is the 95db @ 100 ft.

they measure the sound from the center of the track which has anyone ever really measured the placement of the meter?

second is the track takes the time and expense to build the fences and billboards that double as a sound wall to try and help keep sound in,well with meter in the center it picks up the hallway effect of the sound being kept inside the bowl created by the walls.

measure the sound 100 ft out side the track and see the difference please.
