"Carchief" Joey Batts ready for 4-Banger action this Friday night at Ocean Speedway

By Gary Thomas

Watsonville, CA – October 14, 2009…BK Racing crew member Joey "Batts" Bataglia is locked and loaded to make his second career 4-Banger start this Friday night at the Ocean Speedway in Watsonville.

Batts has spent much of this season working on the Al's Roofing Supply No. 69 driven by 13-time King of California Brent Kaeding and he looks forward to getting back on the track Friday. "It's been a pretty fun year at the track and I'm excited to get the chance to race the 4-Banger again this weekend," Batts said.

To make things more interesting long-time racing associate and two-time Silver Crown Series champion Bud Kaeding will be riding along with Batts in the 4-Banger Friday. "I'm looking forward to riding co-passenger on Friday because when you get Joey Batts in the mix you never know what to expect," said Kaeding. "Joey will definitely be on the hammer so it's something fans won't want to miss and I'm sure I'll be getting a good show from the passenger seat."

Last season Batts made his first 4-Banger start on June 27 at the Ocean Speedway and will be looking to have some more fun on Friday. "Meeting new people and having a good time is what I love most about being at the track," said the 44-year-old San Jose resident. "I have to thank all my sponsors for helping out this Friday including Silva Racing, YAK Graphics, Taco Bravo, Kaeding Performance, 20x Racing, Martin Motorsports, Pacano Motorsports and everyone who's supporting me."

When Batts competed in the event last season a large crowd gathered at the track to take in the 4-Banger Racing and it's expected to be the same this year. "It was amazing to see all the teams leave their pits and go watch Joey," said Linda Suggs of Scotts Valley. "We're all excited to see him run the 4-Banger again on Friday and will be rooting him on."

Also in action during the night will be the season finale for the GLR Investments 360 Sprint Car Series, which sees the point battle coming down to the final event with Easton's Tommy Tarlton leading Campbell's Brent Kaeding by just five slim points. The front gate at the Ocean Speedway on Friday will open at 4:00 pm with adult tickets being $15, seniors $12, kids 6-12 $9 and five and under free. Racing is scheduled to get underway at 6. The Ocean Speedway is located on the Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds in Watsonville, California.
