AT $500/set, I'd be worried about the cost of replacing a bent one if I got into a wreck.....

I don't know where you are getting your birdcages, but to get a "quality" set of cages, you're going to spend about that anyway. Sure...there's cheaper ones, but you get what you pay for.
Don't know how this deal will work on a winged car, but Canaday's put a system on my midget when I ran it a few years back that effected the car the same way. It did hook the car up on dry slick when you lowered the jacob's ladder. But again...that's non-winged.

i don't see any way to mount an outboard brake on either side. the adjustible pick up point for the jacobs ladder will attract some people.
to indy and beyond!!

Hi,
My name is Jerrald, I man the phone here at Dead On Mfg. We designed our birdcage to be the most versatile bearing housing on the market today. Our customers are making adjustment combinations that even we never thought of! With the dual flag location and the 1/8 inch increment adjustable Jacob's ladder mount, drivers have more control of the rear suspension than they did before. We also designed it to be "bump friendly" This means that the Jacob's ladder mount, flag and radius rod spacer are replaceable. If the flag or spacer get bent, they can be replaced with less chance of damage to the whole housing.
Another design feature is the ability to make the Jacobs ladder adjustment without lifting the tires from the ground. Our customers are making USAC legal adjustments even during red flag situations. Our cages are running coast to coast here in the US and in Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
Here is one of the many emails we have received from our customers...
After we got tagged by another car on the 1st lap when a car went flipping. It broke the hiems off of the bird cage, then we replaced it on the red flag, went to the back of field 19th spot, then drove from the back of the field and finished 3rd . the track was very ruff and after racing 25-35 laps on this ruff track and finishing that far up front, the bird cage on the right side was still in great shape . We hope to have your support in the future as we will be racing 3 cars in 2010 ascs lonestar region races. Thank you Claud Estes 74e

This is no new bird cage design, its a copy of a guy in California. they have been making the same style for the midgets for the last 4 or 5 years.

I put multiple weldments on my birdcages for the ladder mount point on my Kain car back in 1983 so this is not a cutting edge idea. I don't see anywhere that the man says it's his new idea. He took a product and improved it....the way it used to be done in America on a regular basis.
Pretty high quality impressive looking piece compared to my old 3/8" plate steel cages with only three pick up points.
Can't reinvent the wheel but it can be refined...just like this man did with his birdcages.

This design is not new, Bobby Harr in colorado designed and built these for midgets in the mid 90"s
Although his were cockpit adjustable, which would help more as the race went on. if you don't know what your doing with this adjustment (look out) it is a major change that will bite you in the a??.

Hello Again,
This is Jerrald here at Dead On Mfg. I wanted to take the opportunity to announce the arrival of our new birdcage design. The 102-3 has the same adjustable Jacobs ladder mounting block as the 101-3. But, the 102-3 has the added feature of brake mounts for drivers who use outside brakes. We expect to have info about the new 102-3 posted on our website www.deadonmfg.com in the next few days. Please feel free to contact me here at [email protected] or by calling toll free 1-877-984-2701 if you have any questions about any of our birdcage designs.

The Guy From california was Trimble Motorsports..you can tell cause his flags are D Shaped slotted into the birdcage.counter sank the bolt for the radius rod, as well as the slide idea..One thing is. The Dead On cages are too thin on material around the bearing in the rear..and the Slide is massive..no need for such a huge bracket...a good set of birdcages or a decent price (depending on who you go threw) is winters. Dead On might of gotten the idea. But there is no such thing as copying any part in this sport...
