SUMMER NATIONALS FINALE PLUS COMPLETE WoO SHOW OCTOBER 2
Written by Bruce Ellis Tuesday, 01 September 2009 12:21 MECHANICSBURG, PA -- The richest weekend in the 70-year history of Williams Grove Speedway is set for Friday and Saturday evenings, October 2-3, when it will be possible for a sprint car driver to win more than $78,000.
Saturday night's Cleveland Brothers National Open sanctioned by the World of Outlaws will pay $50,000 to win, but much attention is being focused on Friday night's program which will include the dash and the 30-lap Summer Nationals finale rained out on July 25.
Because the Summer Nationals feature field has been filled, the race will be run on October 2 in addition to the scheduled World of Outlaws event. The entire Summer Nationals purse will be paid, therefore no rain checks from July 25 can be honored. The makeup feature will be worth $20,000 to win. The dash finish will determine the first ten starting positions for the Summer Nationals feature.
A complete World of Outlaws program including time trials, heats, a C-Main, a dash, a B-main and a 25-lap feature paying $8,000 to win will also be part of the October 2 card.
Time trials for the October 2 event will open the night's activities followed by the Summer Nationals dash and feature. The remainder of the scheduled October 2 WoO event will then be run.
The Summer Nationals dash lineup will find World of Outlaws star Joey Saldana on the pole with Grove regular Cody Darrah starting alongside him on the front row.
The second row will be comprised of former Williams Grove champions Keith Kauffman and Lance Dewease. World of Outlaws career win winner Steve Kinser and Williams Grove career win leader Fred Rahmer will comprise row three.
The remainder of the dash field will be filled by Craig Dollansky, Aaron Ott, Chad Kemenah and Brian Leppo,
Positions eleven through 24 will go to Lucas Wolfe, Danny Lasoski, Jason Meyers, Jason Sides, Greg Hodnett, Doug Esh, Todd Shaffer, Jac Haudenschild, Stevie Smith, Chad Layton, Kraig Kinser, Brian Montieth, Sammy Swindell and Donny Schatz.
Some reserved remain for both nights and credit card orders are accepted during business hours at 717.697.5000.

I've never been to the grove so I'm not familiar with the surface but maybe somebody that is familiar can answer my question. Will the make-up program be run on a narrow, heavy track because it's running before the full program and subsequently will the track take rubber by the end of the night leading to two features that could possibly be a follow the leader situation? Like I said, I don't know the surface at all so I may be way out in left field in thinking this could happen. Just curious, any thoughts?

What car will Dollansky be driving in the dash Friday? Or will the car be a scratch? Are they allowed to put Sweet in the car - or can Craig start in a different car? How does that work? "Inquiring minds want to know"

If they were running this show in mid July I would worry about that, but usually the Open surface stays pretty tacky all night long. It's been damp here lately and the cool temps keep the moisture there for the night. The dash may be a bit "one lane", but I've never been to an Outlaw show at the Grove where the cushion doesn't get blown up pretty far pretty fast. To give you an idea, the Grove's typical shows the last few weeks have been two FULL programs a night with about 24-28 410s and 35-40 358s and a 358 driver came from 24th to 2nd in the 20lap feature 2 weeks ago, which is the last race of the night.
