I have been trying to find video/pictures of a wreck from 2001 I believe. I'm not much help because I don't remember what track it was even at, but I think it was Mark Kinser involved. It was a heat race, and the car on the pole didn't get on the power when the green came out, and everyone ran him over. I think every car, or at least dang near, flipped pretty hard. Not real detailed, but if anyone knows what I'm talking about and has any info, that would be great!

One possible?

This could have been the second night of the Duel in the Dakotas at Red River Valley Speedway on Friday, July 6th, 2001.

Mark started on the Pole of the Second Heat Race, something amiss with Mark as they were taking the green at the start causes a pile-up involving Andy Hillenburg, Jason Meyers, James Chesson and Mike Johnson out of turn 4.

TNN busted out that race live, thinking I have it on VHS somewhere...

That was a crazy wreck! I was standing at the inside railing right at the chalk line beside Palmer Berger for that one. When the cars stopped I ran on to the track and it was a mountain of crashed cars, it was quiet for a second and then they all started yelling at Mark, calling him a f##kin' idiot, asking WTF he was doing! Mark starts yelling back that the throttle linkage broke and it wasn't his f**king fault. It was hilarious, all this swearing coming out from under the wrecked cars!

Palmer got an incredible picture of the crash in progress and gave me an 8x10 of it the next week, there are so many cars so close together its hard to count them all! I thought there were 6 cars in the crash and only 2 missed it, i'll have to look at the picture tonight.

Thanks for bringing back a great memory!

That's EXACTLY when it was. I remember it VERY WELL. It was my very first night working with Dave Hare who was doing play by play, Nikki Siegel was our producer, Mike and Cathy Martin the owners of The Sprint Car Network and SCN Radio and it was in Fargo. It was the first heat and Mark started on the pole. When he hit the fun button, the throttle linkage broke and the ride was on for almost everyone behind him. I know other than Mark Kinser in the Mopar 5, James Chesson in his Silver and Green 76 was involved along with Mike Johnson in the McDonald's 94, Andy Hillenburg in the Luxaire 2, Craig Dollansky in the Karavan 7, and a couple others. I have a photo of that wreck in progress and I'll have to dig it out to remember the rest of the cars. It was a melee for sure and a GREAT way for me to start my Sprint Car Broadcast career.

Nikki Siegel was the best producer a guy could ever ask for when it came to producing a show! She was the producer also for my first couple of shows also with SCN. Talk about keeping a show up and moving! The SCN days were great, that's for sure.

Speeking of Fargo, RRVS, I heard a rumor it was possibly shutting down? the diminish of Wissota Championship spints in 05 left the big 1/2 mile wingless and currently door classes compete weekly , RRVS just isnt the same without Sprints IMO, but,I still love the place. anybody heard any truth?

Haven't heard anything. If it did it would be sad. Its a great facility. I remember going there in 71-73 and not missing a show, I drove from Winnipeg each week for it. There were taxi cabs and sprints back then, what a great show. I think it was called the MinnKota Racing Association. Sure would miss Fargo, even though it hasn't been the same for years.
