Looks like McCarl will be there. The outlaws are at Deer Creek on Saturday. Does Balog even have to show up, pretty much has the points locked up!

Weather is the same for both Deer Creek and Oshkosh Friday night, that doesn't look good for Oshkosh if you want cherry pickers!

Out of the "outlaws" that were there two weeks ago, maybe the 1M will be back.

The IRA will put on a great show at Oshkosh, reguardless of who shows up and it will be done a lot sooner than the Dodge County show the next night!

Thinking about coming up to WI two weekends in a row, have to see if the winds are blowing the right way on Thursday morning.

The IRA is running this weekend. That is good enough for me any day. Travelers are just a bonus

So, I did some more checking last night.

Deer Creek runs Saturday, not Friday. So there is a slight chance somebody outside the WoO top 10 would come a little out of the way and take a chance against the IRA. Perhaps the 91 and 9 will come from teh twin cities, perhaps. Travel guys made out very good last Saturday, but that is kind of different circumstances.

As for the IRA, it is very realistic to expect at least 25 guys there on a Friday night, could have a couple 360's, since the MSA is with the IRA Saturday night at Dodge. Oshkosh is kind of tough on a 360 though.

Either way, the show will be a good one, as Gunner said, the travel guys are just a bonus. But hey, in today's economy, we are all looking for more bang for the buck!

I bet if Balog didn't show up for the last 3 show's he would not be champion. umm a 263 point lead over Neitzel. I have $1000.00 bucks Neitzel scores more than 263 points in 3 nights.

To bad Goeden and Reinke didn't run the whole thing!

Please correct me if I am wrong but Goeden has skipped several nights, and is just out of the top 10 in points. Reinke has skipped 4 or 5 and is still in the top 5 in points.

Balog is a hell of a racer but man there are alot of other drivers who compete in the IRA, maybe he has earned his golden boy status.

I bet Mr. Sinclair worry's about all his drivers in this day and age, not just one!

Excellent points hoosier1.

The 2W has to be a big fav coming into Dodge, I was surprised the 02 was as high in points as he is, as he has publicly stated he was not going to all the shows this year. Even the 21J could come in and lay the smack down, hasn't done half bad at most of the remaining tracks.

Golden boy status, you're killin me! wink

Balog has earned the right to be a champion, he can outdrive any of the guys mentioned on any given night & has proved it for 2 years now.

I don't think anybody ever said the dude couldn't wheel a car.

I think most are wondering this, as champion, wouldn't you support your club first? Just asking.

I probably would, if I could. But I only drive a sprint car on TV, so that doesn't really count!

Again, if it was me, I would rather "outdrive" the competition, as you said, and pick up my paycheck, rather than driving hours to maybe get a 10-15th finish in the A main, maybe? (and that is what will happen, look at last weekend, yes Balog was the highest IRA finisher both nights, but...).

I heard balog was going to oshkosh then possibly to deer creek. So if he only missed one night and goes the last night how many points can he really lose? There is a 2000.00 bonus to the highest ira driver at the show, and I guess the promotor was trying to sweeten the pot. So just making the a would pay what 800.00 plus the bonus, thats more than the ira pays to win? What would you do?

...not to mention honing your skills against the best at a track you do well at close to home...unfortunate that the reschedule was on an IRA date at Dodge Co., but raindates are tough. Both should be great shows...congrats to Balog on another great season...

The bonuses for Knoxville drivers, IRA drivers and drivers at Nationals that were in the C main back are great, and will result in more drivers traveling to Deer Creek I think...

Just to throw a little more info on what I know about the Minnesota racers in the mix. The UMSS 360's are at Cedar Lake as part of the Legendary 100. Jerry Richert Jr. is the UMSS points leader so I'm expecting him to support Ron Bernhagen's new series this Saturday. The #63 car that Brooke drove last weekend was Jerry's 410 car and all the crew guys will be at Cedar Lake. Brooke has a 360 ride in Duane Nelson's #14 so I'm expecting him to run with the UMSS a half hour from home.

Travis hurt the motor last weekend at Superior and ended up scratching at CLS after hot laps last Saturday. I haven't talked to them since but they don't have a lot to work with anymore so I'm guessing there is no spare motor and they could be done for the year rather than do a rebuild for one or two more races but Whitney Racing will have to clarify that.

Stan's right - no spare motor, but we knew Cedar Lake was our last race of the season anyway. We're headed off for family vacation this weekend. Best of luck to everyone for the rest of the season!

Gosh people I said it before Balog is a hell of a driver. There are alot of IRA regulars who on any given night who can out drive Balog and all the above mentioned drivers.

Let any team (driver) do what they want to do. It would have been really interesting to me if Goeden and Reinke had run the entire point schedule. I really think it would have been a 3 or 4 way battle.

Three nights left let's go racing!
