Anyone know why Steve & Kraig Kinser didn't get a provisional for the GC? Last year, both Donny & Joey used them.

my guess is because they struggled so much all weekend that they were not going to gain much by taking a provisional since everyone is awarded the same points.

did anyone get a provisional? i saw only 24 poitions noted in the main. last year they said no provisionals would be granted, then let donny and joey each have one. steve crashed both cars he had with him. i don't know if they were both so bad he could not have run one of them.
to indy and beyond!!

It was only posted that there was NO provisionals on Thurs and Fri. I know Steve isn't a big fan of the provisional and I don't think Kraig had any left.

They most likely didn't take a provisional because it wouldn't have been a positive effect on their weekend. Even if they started the main they most likely would have had to finish 13th or better in order to make any more money for the weekend. The way they were running all weekend I doubt that would have been possible. This race didn't have an effect on their overall points so it didn't really matter. They were racing for the $50k and they most likely realized they didn't have a chance to get it. Everyone got the 75 show up points.

They opted out of them. One had no parts, the other figured it was a waste of time. I heard it on the officials radio.
Its not always the flagmans fault, he is only as good
as the officals on the ground

I heard from an outlaw crew guy that Steve has been racing injured for the last few races. If this is true add to it everything else that happened at Gold Cup I don't blame him one bit for sitting that one out. Takes allot of good fortune to win GC. Allot can go wrong in a hurry.SK has had his fair of good fortune at Gold Cups in the past. This year was not one of them.
