Is there a minimum speed rule at SFS? I understand the orange No. 1 champ sprint was being driven by an older gentleman who has been around for some time, but he was being lapped every two laps and held the potential to really impact the points standings, in a negative sense, on a crucial night. At what point do you take a car like that one off the track?

That's a great question. I was wondering that myself. I mean, at what point do you not notice as a driver that you are contributing nothing positive to a race and are just kinda in the way? I have to question his logic to be out there too. I remember watching Charlie when I was a kid but c'mon....

You guys are right I have had to do that before it is a hard call to make but hell sometimes it has to be done. For me there was a couple of other races that the black flag should have been used but was not. One in particular where the flagman was going to use it but it looked like the official on the front straight help change his mind. Then he gave the driver the ok sign like he took care of it. But I was not on the flag stand so it was his call. I just went and got a corndog LOL.

What about the blue/yellow move over flag , Not tryin to gripe but damn Jeremy Allen got severely screwed in Sunday's A-main . He gave the guy a love tap or two lettin him know he was there , the flag should have been waved !!! Heck I've raced at plenty of tracks the even tell you about it on your mandatory raceiver radio if the leaders are commin up on ya they will let you know .
I'm just bitter i guess but too many races have been ruined because of the neglegence of the flags and not just that one but a few colors also !
winners dont cry when they lose , they go back to the
drawing board and come back for round 2 !

I agree Shawn, that the flag shoulda' been used there.I guess I wasn't paying close enough attention so here is my question about that deal. Did the lapped car hold his line or did he move around causing Jeremy to not know where he was going to try to make a pass? Not trying to fuss with anyone at all. Just asking. Cause this would make a difference in what one thinks about whether he was screwed or not. See what I'm saying?
I also talked to Steve and he said he was just planning on running 2nd til they came up on that lapped car and the opportunity presented itself so he went for it.

One other thing.
I do believe the black flag shoulda' been thrown for Charlie. It was actually a dangerous situation for him and the other competitors. I know when I was working with a guy in the 90s we were wondering if we should put on a 4 bbl carb to run with the supers for the fact we didn't want to be going too slow and cause problems for us or anyone else. It turned out that the car was fast enough to run them in that case. But still we wondered what to do. You run up on a guy like that so fast. Kinda scary to watch let alone have to deal with on the track I think.

The car in question was the 94 yes he held his line, but there is more than one way to look at it. Could he have held his line out of the groove since there was only one because the track sucked at that point, No body knows hell he could have spun in front of them and then that would be another topic. It's all about experience and sometimes the luck of being the second place car in line. If not for that the 41 would have won it sucks but that is the way it goes sometimes. Like has been said on here and in the pits so many times nobody knows what is expected out of the lap cars, It needs to be brought up in the drivers meetings then all drivers would know what to expect.
Could the officials have done something to prevent it? Yes... Will they in the future? No...

I'm just a fan, but from a fan's perspective, if you start with the blue flags and radioing to lapped cars to get out of the way, you take away something that is almost unique to dirt track racing these days. You might as well be watching NASCAR or Formula 1.
I'm a Steve Smith fan, sure, but I like to think if I was an Allen fan I would've appreciated that race anyway. It was a great race. People were standing up cheering and jeering.
I'm sure Allen was probably frustrated, but next time maybe it'll work out in his favor.

You guys are all right. I've been to driver meetings and they were told to go to the bottom and stay there when they get a blue/yellow flag. The drivers were tolds to pass on top.
Very good points of view from all of you.

Thats true about holdin the line , the main complaint is the flags are never shown . And i know lapped traffic is part of what makes racing exiting it just sucks the way some of them end because of it . I'm a fan of both cars so it was a hell of a race .

drawing board and come back for round 2 !

Yes, Kenny there should be a minimum speed that needs to be maintained before the Black Flag flies. If any competitor falls below that limit the Black Flag should apply. You should have to be able to keep up with the pace.
Getting lapped 18 times in a 20 lap Feature...........BLACK FLAG on lap 2 would be my call. That was a huge liability for Lanny to let him continue.

Don't they Black Flag drivers if they are smoking just a little bit, What the hell is the difference over the years I have seen so many cars ass ended by faster cars because they are to damn slow and in the way... Every body has to learn some how, but some people just don't get it so go find a new hobby.
