"He would yell at people to get out of the way or to sit down."
I'm afraid that was me yelling, and I'm a little surprised you heard me all the way from here in AZ.. Where were you sitting in relation to this guy, maybe I yelled at you too..LOL
Half the lies they tell about me aren't true.

JCocker: Now the second winning est NARC driver ever to race there didn't show
up, I think I know why! The same reason he never raced the World of
Outlaw shows here in Calistoga!
And who would that be?

I thought BG did a good job. Saying he isn't his dad isn't an insult - the G-Man is great at racing, basketball, drags, etc. BG did run down the CRA points a few times and he did give a good background of Danny Sheridan - from starting in stock cars to his start in sprint cars. The announcing may have been better simply if it could have been heard. We sat down in turn 4 on the first night and I thought (hoped) the sound would be better in the covered stands, but it wasn't - it may have been worse. As for the guy in the infield, they should have kicked him to the curb and let Gary Thomas handle the mic.
That said, there was plenty to like about the weekend. Highlights for me:
The little red sucker's win on Sunday night. Having been a longtime fan of the Gasman, it's always nice to see the #50 in victory lane.
Jesse Hockett - the guy is a racer. 360, 410, wings, non-wing, doesn't matter. Steve Howard was right when he said The Rocket would have been the only guy who would take his challenge of starting in the back. Too bad he crashed out Sunday night, but the guy only knows one speed: all out!
Even though he didn't have a great weekend, it was great to see Tony Jones race. The entire #4 team is a class act. They let my 6 year old sit in the car, and Tony took the time to not only give him an autograph, but asked him his name so he could personalize it (which not many drivers do anymore). Great guys!
Ditto for David Cardey and the entire Kittle Motorsports team. We're now fans of both the #18 & #38.
As a Nor-Cal fan, it was great to see Kyle Larson & Kyle Hirst take the wings off and adapt quick. Both are great racers. I do believe Larson will be one of those racers we'll say "I remember seeing him when he was just starting out..." about.
All in all, a great weekend. Look forward to many more years. Thanks to all the people who make it happen.

Now the second wining-est driver, the one that knew better to run against the World of Outlaws at Calistoga! #69. One reason the cost of tires? Could it be the way they change prepping the track? If anyone that remembers the first race of the year, it was a day race. They changed it to a night race because of the cost of tires.
We will be there again next year. I sure miss vintage STOGA! At least, water the track on the bottom for the Steve Kent, Swindel groove for Sunday.
The difference in the old vintage days, NARC started all the FAST CARS a total invert! None of the CRA top 6 or 8! Mid pack starts.
If anyone can put Johnny Andersons name, in the Hall of Shame, please do so! Then I can call it The Hall of Fame! That is not right leaving this driver out! After all these years!
Now how to cut the cost down, a new tire rule. 12 inch RR and LR. Yes, limit the width! Not the track prep! Just my opinion! Only my opinion! As a really long time fan! I did tell the Fat Rat when they chopped the 30 lap main in the winged sprinters (TIRES AND FUEL PROBLEMS) (NAME THE FIRST DRIVER TO RUN OUT OF FUEL THERE) I would never see another winged show there! I made my promise and called Manzy my home track. In the mid 90's. Manzy was never the same with the booting of Mr. Hall. (JUST MY CALL) Opinion belongs to me only.
Now Perris is only about 15 years old. Now look at Calistoga first year about 1937. What will Perris look when it makes it around that long.
The in field mic was a wast! Maybe blowing to much hot air into it!
Only my opinions.
Joe

LeRoy Van Conett 31 wins
Brent Keading 21 wins / mostly winged
Chuck Gurney 17 wins
Johnny Anderson 11 wins
Tim Green 11 wins winged
Steve Kent 11 wins winged
Well how long has Johnny A. been out? 1982?
This is only at Calistoga, most came from fast times, last 4 rolls! None of that CRA top 6 start up front. This could be one reason CRA were hardly here. Plus a heavy fine! Right, Stoga! This at 10 races a season.
Joe
Thanks for all the looks, just miss the old days, what real racing was like! Should have seen it back then. Not what we have now!

I agree the "Midnight Cowboy" should be in the Sprint Car Hall of Fame. Here's my vote (to bad it doesn't count) for the great Johnny Anderson and his trademark cowboy hat.
