The countdown is on so mark your calendar for IRA's premier event of the season the 9th Annual Jerry Richert Memorial on Sept. 12, 2009 at Cedar Lake Speedway. Come out to see an action packed night of 410 and 360 sprint car racing and also pay tribute to the greatest rim rider of all time Jerry Richert Sr.
The Richert Family in conjunction with Cedar Lake Speedway and the Interstate Racing Association (IRA )are excited for this great event. The Richert Family has not only been working hard to raise bonus prize money for the race team's but to try and make this year's event bigger and more exciting and fun for race fans of all ages. So far family and friends have raised over $6,000.00 in cash and prizes making this not only the IRA's most prestigious event but also the season's highest paying race.
For the fans we will again have an autograph session so you can meet your favorite drivers along with pre- race entertainment from with local talent Russell Eldridge. The times for these events will be announced next week. There will also be afree BBQ in the pits after the races for fans and teams put on by the Richert Family & Friends.
This year's event is shaping up to be the toughest and most competitive year ever. We have had driver's express interest from many non- IRA teams that include past Jerry Richert Memorial winners, drivers that have both competed with and won World of Outlaw "A" Mains, Knoxville regulars and also the Lady Lead foot. Some of the driver's will also be doing double duty that night with a double header as they race for the UMSS 360 championship. Come out and pay tribute to the man that has gone down in history as being the master of rim riding and a legend in the sport Jerry Richert Sr. This is going to be a unique opportunity for fans to see a jam packed night full of Sprint car racing and we need you to come and show your support for sprint car racing the Upper- Midwest at its best.
Look forward to seeing you at the races.

The boys and I will be there! This may be the first night I've ever seen a totally sprint car show with no door bangers anywhere near the Twin Cities. Just a reminder, folks, the IRA is running at Superior the night before,so the two races could/should attract a few extra cars given the time/distance proximity.
How about an update on Brooke? Out of the cast yet? Has he found a ride for the Memorial race?

If Brooke can race he may be in the blue 81 Knoxville car.

$5,000 to win!

Dont Forget, The Northern Vintage Stock car racers will be there in force with the vintage cars! CLS added them after the last 2 races that they were supposed to run were rained out. This race was Awesome last year in spite of the rain!
Oh yeah, Cheer for Butch, in the number 31 supermod! GO DAD!

Did not realize the vintage cars are going to be there. Last time I saw them at CLS, they had quite a few cars, and I really enjoyed talking to the drivers/families that had them there. A great chance to relive some memories of times past and the cars we used to watch.
As for the blue 81 from Knoxville, who is the regular driver for that car? I don't get to Kville often enough to put drivers/cars together in my head. I do recognize most of the drivers names, however.

Josh Higday has been driving the 81 car at Knoxville this year when they've raced....I haven't followed their weekly results too closely, but I don't think they ran the first part of the year, but finished/finishing the season out as far as I know.

Too bad the Rubin's at Husets had to book their show against the Richert Memorial. I heard that the Rubin's told the owners of Cedar Lake they would never book against that show. You can see thier word is no good.

Wayne Johnson had a nice run in that car too this year. Always been one of my favorite cars! Thanks to the Richert family for busting their butts to make this one of my "can't miss" shows on my racing schedule. See ya'll there....

You said it Chuck. Hard for those 4 drivers that are up for the bonus cash to go elsewhere but we'll have a great field of cars no matter what.

After over 20 years do any of you think Hussets cares? This is a great travesty against the Richert Family and the memory of one of the greatest sprint car drivers ever. Sonny supported that place for years, even won Championships there. However Sonny and the girls will help put on a show that will dwarf anything Hussets does. Greed and Selfishness will never prevail. I will be there to help in anyway they need. I should have our two cars there plus Sonny's and my #63 and his own #62. This is , as always, going to be a blast. You all know my wish, Sonny wins, Brooke and Joseph can battle for 2nd. Thanks to Cedar Lake and the Richert family for giving us all this great nite of open wheel racing.

Wonder if Justin Zoch will be announcing the races as he has in the past. This has always been a good event.

Why would it be hard NOT to show up at Husets?
Just don't go!
That might show the JACK-ASS's that run Husets what DUMB ASS's they are!

Husets has (apparantly) cancelled their Sept. 12th Patriot Day race. Note: The Dakota Bowl, a popular, local high school football game is also played that night. That draws 8,000+ people on it's own.

OK, now let's see how many Huset's cars make the trip. You won't need more than one hand to count them.
