Unfortunately, after speaking with Damion this evening, he has informed me that he will not be able to compete in this year's Louie Vermeil Classic. After being burned severely on both ankles just two weeks ago at I-80 Speedway in Nebraska, Damion underwent a 2 hour medical procedure last monday to graft skin to the most damaged areas of his ankles. His Doctor advised him that due to the several remaining open wounds in these areas, he risked causing an infection would could potentially put him out for months.
Therefore, Damion made the wise decision to let himself heal up and be ready for the upcoming National points race on September 12 at Terre Haute. While it is a disappointment, it was the right decisions and he will be back next year.

Will he still be attending the races to spectate and appear at the autograph session?

I'm guessing his racing season is over. Unless the month of November he's cleared. Burns are awful! Even socks will give him fits! The rubbing on the new skin.. Two to four months!

He will be racing at Terre Haute on 9/12. If your going to be at Calistoga on Sunday you can speak with him yourself. He will be at the Speedway on Sunday for the autograph session 2-4pm. He just will not be driving a sprint car.
