Mason Moore returns to the seat this weekend during Golden State Challenge Series season finale in Placerville

By Gary Thomas

Princeton, CA – August 18, 2009…After sitting out since getting injured on Memorial Day Weekend Princeton, California's Mason Moore is scheduled to return to competition this Saturday night at the Placerville Speedway for the Golden State Challenge 410 Sprint Car Series season finale.

The 2009 year is Moore's third season behind the wheel of a sprint car however, it came to a halt in late May at the Silver Dollar Speedway when he suffered a fractured fourth vertebra during a hot-lap crash.

Since then Moore has been recuperating at home, while also getting out to the track to visit friends and watch the action as much as possible. "I really have to thank my mom and dad, my family and everyone at the races for being so great to me," the 18 year-old said. "I've had a lot of support whenever I was able to attend the races and have had a lot of people come up and ask how I was doing so that was pretty nice. I just want everyone to know how much I've appreciated it."

Moore has also been eagerly anticipating the chance to get back in a sprint car and is very excited for it to come at the Placerville Speedway, during what will also be the final event of the Golden State Challenge King of California Series season. "I was ready to get back in a sprint car last month," Moore said. "Being at the track and not being able to get in a car is killer so I've been counting down the days for this Placerville race."

The Placerville Speedway in fact has become a favorite of Moore's after being able to run weekly at the track since joining the Friends & Family Racing team. "I've really enjoyed running with Tooch and Alan at Placerville and it has quickly become my favorite track to race at," said Moore, who set fast-time on two occasions during his four weekly starts at the quarter-mile bullring prior the injury. "Placerville seems to be one the raciest places around because it slicks off and gets that big cushion up top to lean on, which makes it a lot of fun because you can usually move around on it. I'm really looking forward to Saturday because I've never been able to run a 410 at the place and it's something I've wanted to do."

The Golden State Challenge 410 show this weekend will mark the 24th round of the season for the series and will see Los Angeles, CA's Tyler Walker bring a 21-point lead in the standings over Chico's Jonathan Allard, as the tour that travels throughout California and into Oregon hits its last event of the year. "I would love to be able to run with Golden State full-time to gain the experience of running with the various drivers and all the different tracks," Moore said. "When you look at the top-five in points with them it doesn't get much better than that out here and I'm looking forward to running with those guys this weekend."

For the rest of the season the driver known as "Primetime" will look to have some fun and try to get back into the groove as soon as possible. "I just can't wait to get back going again," he said. "Hopefully I can quickly get back into the swing of things and maybe pick up a win or two before the year is done. Last season I won a couple of races so I definitely would like to get one this year as well."

Prior to Saturday Moore will hot lap his family owned, Rolling Hills Casino, Moore Insurance Services, Withrow's Motorsports No. 22 sprinter on Friday night at Silver Dollar Speedway to make sure everything is good to go. "I'm excited to hot lap on Friday and want to make sure my body can take it before I compete on Saturday," said Moore. "I'll tell you though I've never been more ready to get back on the track and can't wait to be able to jump on the gas, feel the power and go."

Then on Saturday Moore will climb back aboard the F&F Racing No. x1 sprinter to make his actual return to competitive action. The Princeton driver was very quick at Placerville Speedway in the Steve Tuccelli/Alan Bradway owned machine early in the season, with his best night coming on April 20 when he set fast-time and finished third in the main event behind veterans Andy Forsberg and Andy Gregg. "We were really fast in the weekly races so hopefully we'll have some luck on Saturday and run up front," Moore concluded.

On Friday August 28 Moore will then take to the Silver Dollar Speedway for Coca-Cola Championship Night, in what will be his first evening of racing back in the family sprint car. Mason Moore Racing would like to thank all of our sponsors for their continued support including Rolling Hills Casino, Moore Insurance Services, Withrow's Motorsports, Selover’s Paint & Body, NOS Energy Drink, Blue Shield, Platinum Powder Coating, Napa Auto Parts, Butler Built Performance and Simpson Race Products. “I want to thank my crew chief Mike Clarke, my whole team and all of our sponsors for sticking by me through all of this,” Moore said. “I have some great people behind me so that makes it nice and I’m thankful for it.”
