Fellow sprint car fans...

Lets face it ... Speed Channel sucks!!!!

In this day and age of 500 plus tv channels...

We need a real racing channel!!!!

MLB, NBA, NHL, and the NFL all have their channels....

Somebody with cash and cahones need to start a real racing channel...

They will find sponsor loyalty ($$$!) like no other televised product can produce.

If it were economically feasible, someone would have already done it by now!

Sprint car racing, while popular, is very much a niche sport; go ask ten of you neighbors if they'd pay to watch sprint cars on TV. Most of them don't even know what a sprint car is!

The average sprint car track is lucky to draw 2000 fans on an average weekend. As a business, TV has to make money to survive. The costs associated with TV production are large, and very labor intensive, so much so, that our niche sport would have to charge way too much to viewers in order for a "Sprint Car Channel" to survive.

So while it's a good thought, it ain't never gonna happen!

Best you could ever hope for would be a "Dirt Motorsports Channel" which would show Sprints, Late Models, Modifieds, Midgets, etc. But it would also show monster trucks, swamp buggy's, off road racing and just about any thing else that races on dirt. The amount of sprint car racing would likely be limited. The 18 - 34 year old's that sponsors want would want to see more of the "Junk sports"( monster trucks, etc) than real racing so that's what would get the most air time. Like Brad Doty said, Pinks gets a lot higher tv ratings than sprint car racing and is a lot cheaper to produce.

Yea there is just no way to have a channel just for sprint car racing. Granted i loved the ESPN 2 coverage last year and TNN a while back even though a couple years ago when the outlaws had a higher rating than IRL it still wont work. IRL is starting to take off again and the last oval track race they had was awesome. Sprint car racing just cant draw all the attention of a big series as unfortunate as that is. If they did they would still have a title sponsor instead of out of pocket, and with the economy now teams are struggling to stay afloat now unless your one of the big 3 teams out there TV just isnt possible unless its a big time race

Ok sprinter 25... lets use 2000 as a number... if you times that be 100 or maybe even 200 tracks that

run on a weekend... that is a real number...and that is just the people that can make it.... and this is real America... not just what LA-LA land and Wall Street thinks America wants to see ....

and I agree maybe it would just the Racing Network... put on everything the National Speed Sport

covers excluding NAPCAR and the Formula 1 west series... and the frickin dragsters... just like to

see them turn once....

Ok, I'll use your numbers....200 tracks X 2000 fans = 400,000 folks watching...

If you do a little research(Google Nielsen Research) you'll find that that number won't even register in the eyes of marketing people who buy the ads that pay for everything that you see on TV. And I'm not trying to be a wise guy;

I'm merely pointing out the economic facts of why there's no "Sprint Car TV" channel....if Speed Channel and Lucas Oil thought it was worth it(economically feasible), don't you think that they'd have shown the finals? If they can't see making a buck at it, why would someone else?
