After setting new track record gets to start main 10th. While 10th quick gets pole. Why qualify so fast Evan slow down a little.

I had seen that on the website for a while, but when I've looked at my records Stephen set fast-time during a GSC 410 race at Ocean last year and his time was 11.586. Did he set the exact same time at a 360 event too or could is it a typo? I've actually been wondering for a while now.

We are talking NTR not fast time right? So it is possible he made the same exact time with a bigger motor on a heavier track...I am just going by what I saw on the clock last night and what OS has listed in their Track Records on the websight.

10 pill 'eh? There may be just two guys out there that can win from the 10th starting spot, BK or Tarlton. Both have YEARS of experience, professional crews and unlimited funding. It may be "all about the fans" but for the rest of the field, the hard-working regulars, if they draw the 10 pill they are screwed. Ironically, this is the opposite effect of what the inversion happy promoteres think they are going to get.

I like the pill draw format but maybe in 2010, eliminate the # 9 & 10 pill. Winning from the 3rd & 4th row is still tough with the current strength of the field.
In a short time, Ocean has build a impressive sprint program with a nice mix of veteran & younger drivers. As of today, they have the strongest weekly wing program on the West Coast.

so...Brad Furr, Ronnie Day..Suggs...Bud....the rest should just go home?...maybe you need fenders? It is what it is and you don't hear the drivers complaining....it's called competiton from start to finish. Nobody gets a free ride...

I thought it was discussed early in the year, since the track was changed over the offseason. Didn't they call the stuff at the first race this year, NTR?

the track wasn't changed during the off season. prentice has already addressed that. they just moved the barriers in the corners back. kyle larson supposedly set a NTR at the civil war race at ocean, the track did not change the website to confirm that. looking at the results page on the track website i can't find a date where s. allard set fast time in 2008 so i could then cross reference that with my laps to see what the time was. maybe the track could check their records and let us know. i have been going off of what the web says also, if it is wrong it would be nice to have it corrected.

The track record stated for Allard is incorrect. He was quick time in 2008 with Golden State not the 360 series and it was not a track record run. The track record page was suppose to of been changed and I understand it will be done soon. Kyle Larson did set a new track record last month and Evan broke that record Friday night with his 11.692 run.

To clear up the track record issue... the information that was provided to us was from the previous person that is no longer at the track, may have been incorrect. Therefore, currently I am researching this years results and last years, for each class and each event, (Qualifying, Heats, Dashes, BMain, and AMains) and will be updating the Ocean Speedway website this week. We have had several NTRs in the past few weeks for all of our divisions, so we want to update everything at once. Sorry for the delay.
PS Buzz, this is the first year we have done qualifying on mylaps, so last years or previous years qualifying will not be there. And as I understand it we need to compare apples to apples (of course not saying that you aren't doing that) each race shows who turned in the fastest lap, but the qualifying record should by qualifying results only.

there are qualifying results on my laps for last year. here is an example http://www.mylaps.com/results/showrun.jsp?id=807110
i did not look under every 360 date for allards times but there were qualifying results for every date i did check. i saw no 11.586 or whatever for allard on the dates i looked at.

You are correct there is qualifying results, however, those are not the official ones, because we used the previous system, until this year.
After further research the current record was indeed at 410 record set on in May of 2008 by S. Allard.
So as it stands now the current 1 lap qualifying track record is now held by Evan Suggs with a 11.692 and will be updated on the Ocean Speedway Website this week.

Someone is penalized for picking the wrong pill??
OMG DON'T TELL ME THE FASTEST CAR ON THE TRACK THAT DAY HAD TO ACTUALLY RACE SOMEONE?! THAT WOULD BE DISASTROUS FOR RACING....
You're crying that the fastest car on the track by qualifying times has to start behind 9 cars. REALLY?
I'm sure a much more exciting race would be to watch the fastest car start on the pole...it would be terrible if he actually had to race someone.
I know I would hate to pay to see a race where the fastest car every night started on the pole. It's usually much more exciting to see where he draws and where he might actually have to race somebody.
If the fastest car on the track cant pass 9 cars in 20-25 laps then he doesn't deserve to win.

According to my laps the fastest car in the main BK did start on the pole. So the format got you what you didn't want to see.

According to mylaps since you want to bring up statistics....
BK in the main 12.658 fastest lap in lap 1.
Your fast car in qualifying was the 33e with a 11.692. Basically a whole second faster than your "fast car" which is who I assume you are arguing for in which case if he can't pass a car that is a second slower than him, he shouldn't win. Sure you can argue differences in track conditions which in that case...The 33e scored that 11.692 compared to the 11.964 by BK in qualifying. Again a 3 tenth difference in speed. If with a car that pulls a 3 tenths faster lap time you can't pass 9 cars to win. You shouldn't win.
Without some form of pill draw the show would be boring. And you could predict the winner 9 out of 10 times after qualifying. Keep complaining cause thats what message boards were created for. Until you come up with something better I suggest not speaking nonsense.
