I'll say 2 from Wednesday night and 8 from Thursday night.
It would be crazy if all 10 came from Thursday night and then they all get beat on Saturday. Could happen. 40 laps is plenty of time to come from say 11th or 12 to win it.

Thursday will see some way higher points for sure, the whole 10 could come from there easily.

no way 10 will come from one night. the total # of points avail is the same....if a few guys score high then the dropoff is steep.
My guess is that 6 from Thurs and Schatz is 3rd high points earner.

Its a good possibility that only Schatz and Hafertepe will make the A Scramble from last night. It drops from 461 to 447 after that. At the 360 Nationals 447 would have only been 19th in points, barely an A-Main Lock-in. This week, 447 will likely be 12th, 13th or 14th.

I agree. 7 or 8 will come from tonight. Schatz will likely be 4th or 5th highest point getter overall after tonight if not worse.
It wouldn't surprise me to see Meyers or Lasoski or Conley...some of the guys who are around 20th in points last night to even have to run non-qualifiers Friday. The top 50 locked in to Saturday might also be very heavily dominated by tonight's guys.

I think it is early to tell. Rain is moving across the state this morning and tonight could end up like last night. But, if it doesn't and the track is good, I agree with what is said above.

Do you think Allard will make the A with the points he has now? Thanks

You can't make the prediction looking previous event totals involving "both" nights; you have to consider it is point totals from night one vs. point totals from night two. The comparison needs to be made invovling a night-by-night basis.
After looking at the past three years individual qualifying nights compared to last nights point totals, it looks like three-four maximum from last night will be in the scramble with the likely senario being two-three. Schatz total should be right in the 4-6 range (which is a good spot to make up big points in the scramble), but a 447/446 has recently been about the cutoff for top 10. To expect all ten to come from Thursday is nearly a mathmatical impossibility.
The point parity should actually help the middle of the road performances as a 400 at the 22nd spot and 392 at 26th is about 3-5 spots better than what the typical scale ends up. Lasoski should be safely in the C-Main with a solid shot at starting in the back of the B-Main. Meyers is safe in the B. Droud, Crocker, Hannagan, and Pittman should be sweating tonight while Swindell & Sides will be running tomorrow night.
Of course another night of rain and a fast heavy track would bring balance back to the nationals!

Allard is safe in the A main in comparison to the past three years. Should start somewhere from 14th - 17th with 11th/12th not out of question.
Another wet track tonight and Allard may sit on the pole for the scramble! Regardless, should be safe in A-Main.

For all of those who said 2.... looks like we have some winners!
While Wednesday (Thurs. morning) produced the lowest point totals (at the top) over the past four years, Thursday provided more 470+ point totals from any single qualifying night since at least 2006.
Schatz isn't starting back far enough for me to rule him out as the favorite on Saturday night, but he really needs a solid scramble to get in the top three rows.

40 laps at the Nationals.....I'll take him from anywhere in the Top 10. I think he'll start 6th though. Should start no worse than 7th unless he has problems in the scramble.

I'm a Saldana fan and I still don't like Joey (or anyone else) chances!!! Hate to admit it, but those extra 10 laps simply gives Schatz more lap cars to put down. Love him or hate him, the man can flat out drive a sprint car and is hands down the best of the best at Knoxville right now.

He'll have finish 6 spots ahead of either Blaney or Kaeding in the scramble to start 6th.

Yes...they earn points based on finishing positions, which are added to their point totals.
Those point totals then set up the first five rows of the A, B, and C.....

Don't forget passing points and the fact that a tie between two scramble cars goes to the car with the most points earned in the scramble. If Donny wins from 4th that would give him 23 points; Kaeding & Blaney could stall at 6th and only get 10 points putting Schatz up to 5th or 6th. With as competitive as everyone has been, I'm not so sure a Schatz scramble win won't throw him past K.Kinser or Walker either; the scramble typically "helps 1 and hurts 2".

by the numbers, Schatz could go as high as #2 if the planets align for him, which often times they seem to do.

Schatz already proved his driving skills by getting through that mess on wed. night coming from 21st to 5th. What a driver.I feel really bad for some of those good drivers who were victims of wed night. Like Myers, Sides & Lasoski. And a whole lot more. Thursday qualifyers got a real gift last night in the fact that they had a track to race on. Only 2 drivers on wed. got over 460 in points, that was bad. But that happens in racing, the only thing that bugs me about bad luck like that is that fans ignorant of the bad conditions blow off how their guy really made the group that ran wed. look bad. Fact is when it is all said and done wed nite made a lot of drivers look bad. And it really wasn't the drivers, it was the conditions.
