Horrible job in the booth then. We only saw the wreck 1/2 way thru. Looked like a hard wreck. All of the safety crew went out. They got Travis out of the car in what appeared like average to a little longer than average time. Took the car off on the wrecker and the ambulance left the track surface w/lights on. No announcement that he was ok. No announcement that he was alert and talking. No announcement that they were taking him anywhere. In the tracks defense we scooted out of the track as they were interviewing Double D, because it was so late.

Tom -
Track announcers are hampered on what we can tell the crowd because of the health privacy act (HIPPA I believe). Without consent from the driver himself/herself or from someone with power of attorney, all we can report on is what we can observe. Usually at my track, I stick with "he's out of the car". Anything more than that and we face liability issues, especially if any piece of the information given out turns out false.

As those of you who were there saw, Travis was taken away in an ambulance to just behind the turn 3 wall. He was then taken back to his pit area. Travis told me he was going to be sore but otherwise OK. He had planned to run the TnT tour but the car is too damaged to make that happen now. I was really looking forward to seeing Travis run a full week of non wing action too.

Travis is okay. I was standing behind him yesterday while waiting to buy a glass of lemonade and saw his wife ask him if his right eye was okay...he said yes. It was a little swollen and black and blue. I just saw them pushing the car into the infield for tonight.
