Brandon Davis wins at Placerville Speedway for third wingless victory of 2009

By Gary Thomas

Placerville, CA – August 10, 2009…Competing at the Placerville Speedway on Saturday night Rohnert Park, CA's Brandon Davis charged to his third overall victory of the season and first of the year at the red-clay quarter-mile bullring located on the El Dorado County Fairgrounds.

Going along with wingless sprint car victories at the Petaluma Speedway on June 6 and Silver Dollar Speedway on July 3 it continued Davis' solid season behind the wheel of the Dave Johnson owned No. 32 machine. "We had a great run tonight and I've got to thank my car owner Dave Johnson for giving me the opportunity to drive this car," Davis said after his third win of the year. "We've gotten it really fast lately and that's made it a lot fun to drive."

Running at the always action-packed Placerville Speedway on Saturday night Davis kicked-off the evening by finishing runner-up in the opening heat race aboard the Johnson Custom Machine, Hettrich Construction, Northbay Welding, Sparky's Collision Center No. 32 sprinter. It set him up to start from the second row in the main event and at the waving of the green flag he would settle into third behind early leader Matt Streeter and second place Mark Mackay.

The Placerville Speedway track prep crew put together a racy surface to make for the usual exciting action on the high-banked bullring and when Streeter had issues a handful of laps in, it bumped Davis up to second in the running order. The 19 year-old driver then found the high-side of the track to his liking and on lap 10 he would charge around Mackay to take over the top spot, which he would never relinquish as he drove away to pick up his first Placerville win of the year.

The Rohnert Park driver was very happy to score his third win of the season during what was also the final wingless event of the year at the Placerville Speedway. "This track can get pretty tricky sometimes when it gets a deep cushion like it did tonight, but I love coming to this place," Davis said. "There's just no where else quite like Placerville and it's a great track to race on."

As the season slows down and hits its final three month swing Davis will continue looking for more wins and remain consistent at the helm of the Dave Johnson No. 32 machine. "We've had a real strong year so far and I definitely think we can get some more wins," commented Davis. "We seem to be picking up steam as the season goes on and that's a good thing because most of the big races are still upcoming so hopefully we can get this car up front when those races come up on the schedule."
